Inter-project interaction of TEMPUS CERES and DESIRE: transfer of experience of working with gifted youth in the field of information technologies from ZNTU to school teachers and ZOIPPO
At the direction of the Department of Informatics and Information Technologies in Education of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education (ZOIPPO), on September 26, 2016, a meeting-excursion was held at the Department of Software Tools of ZNTU for teachers of Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia Oblast schools. The meeting was organized by associate professor of ZOIPPO, Ph.D., associate professor S.A. Ivanov and employees of the software department – representatives of the projects of the Tempus program of the European Union «Centers of excellence for young scientists» (CERES, reg. No. 544137-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-SK-TEMPUS-JPHE) the head of the department, doctor of science, professor S.O. Subbotinim and «Development of embedded systems using innovative virtual approaches for the integration of science, education and industry in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia» (DESIRE, reg. No. 544091-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-BE-TEMPUS-JPCR) by professor of the department, Ph.D., associate professor G.V. Herdsman.
A total of ten school teachers, one representative of ZOIPPO, four employees and three students of ZNTU took part in the meeting-excursion. During the excursion, school teachers got acquainted with the material and technical base of the department of software tools and the international projects of the Tempus program of the European Union implemented on its basis, established contacts with leading employees of the department, discussed issues of work with gifted youth, integration of secondary and higher schools, organization of further cooperation between ZNTU and ZOIPPO.
Considerable attention of teachers was drawn to the possible introduction of robotics technologies, programming of mobile devices and embedded systems into the educational process and extracurricular work of schools. The teachers had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the modern equipment of the laboratory of embedded systems and remote engineering of the Department of Software, obtained under the Tempus program, including robots, a 3D printer, robotic stands with remote control, computer equipment, and multimedia devices. The teachers were also able to communicate with master’s students studying at the Department of Software Tools and conducting research based on the Laboratory of Embedded Systems and Remote Engineering of the Department of Software Tools. This made it possible to receive feedback from the target audience of the department and to transfer the experience of working with gifted youth to school teachers.
Representatives of schools and ZOIPPO, which participated in the meeting-excursion, expressed interest in cooperation with the Department of Software Tools of ZNTU and outlined the most important areas of further cooperation.
