International Student Essay Competition
On February 26, 1993, in Istanbul, the speakers of the parliaments of nine countries – Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, the Russian Federation, Turkey and Ukraine – adopted the Declaration on the Establishment of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation PABSEC ( http://www.pabsec.org/ ). Currently, PABSEC consists of 76 parliamentarians representing twelve states – members of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC – http://www.bsecorganization.org/ ), including Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia.
On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, which is to be held in 2018, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation PABSEC, in partnership with the Black Sea Universities Network (BSUN – www.bsun.org), is organizing a student essay competition on the topic «Twenty-five years of parliamentary cooperation in the BSEC region – Perspectives and prospects for the future in the Black Sea region» («Twenty-five years of the Parliamentary Cooperation in the BSEC Region – Views and Perspectives for the Future in the Black Sea Region»).
The aim of the competition is to unite the views of young people on the future development of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation region and to form a vision of the future of this region in cultural, political and economic terms. Participants will have a unique opportunity to participate in a regional educational project and express their views, dreams and expectations for the future of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
The deadline for submitting essays is March 31, 2018. Detailed information on the rules for submission, eligibility and writing is available on the BSUN website at: www.bsun.org/PABSEC_Essay_Competition
The essays will be evaluated and selected by the national committees in each BSEC member state by May 2018. The winners will be invited to the 51st PABSEC General Assembly, to be held from 19 to 21 June 2018 in Tirana, where they will be awarded a diploma. All travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by PABSEC. The winning essays will be published in a special issue of the BSUN International Journal «Letters from the Black Sea».
Technical requirements:
– The essay must be written in English
– The essay must be between 6,750 and 9,000 words.
– The essay must be written in Times New Roman 12 font.
– The essay must reflect your own original thinking, and any quotations or copyrighted material used in the essay must be appropriately identified.
Contest Schedule:
– STAGE I – Contest Announcement – January 2018.
– STAGE II – Essay Submission Deadline – March 31, 2018.
– STAGE III – Evaluation – May 2018.
– STAGE IV – Winners Announcement – June 2018.
– STAGE V – Award ceremony at a special ceremony during the 51st PABSEC General Assembly in Tirana on June 21, 2018.
