International project for young scientists
April 28-29, 2014, representatives of the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University, professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences. S.O. Subbotin and associate professor, Ph.D. A.O. Oliynyk visited Žilina University (Žilina, Slovak Republic), where they took part in the kick-off meeting of the international project «Centers of Excellence for Young Scientists» (CERES), financed by the European Commission, together with representatives of partner universities from Žilina (Slovakia), Brno (Czech Republic), Padeborn (Germany), Gomel, Brest, Minsk (Belarus) and Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk (Ukraine).
The meeting was opened by the Rector of Zhilin University, Prof., Doctor of Philosophy T. Choreiova, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Informatics, Prof., Doctor of Philosophy E. Krshak, and the project coordinator from the University of Zhilin, Prof., Doctor of Philosophy K. Matiashko, who opened the meeting with welcoming words to the project participants. At the meeting, an agreement on cooperation between ZNTU and Žilina University was concluded, which defines the main directions of cooperation in educational and research work.
Participants got acquainted with the main tasks of the project and planned means of their achievement and control, determined priority actions for the near future. The main goal of the project is to improve the conditions for conducting research by young scientists in accordance with the research and innovation concept and to implement a partnership program between enterprises and universities from Ukraine, Belarus and EU countries. The project involves the training of target groups (representatives of enterprises, teachers and young scientists), the dissemination of knowledge among other universities, and the implementation of results at local enterprises. Project implementation period: December 1, 2013 – November 30, 2016. Project financing volume – more than 600 thousand euros.
Representatives of partner universities made university presentations. In particular, in the report of Prof. S.O. On Saturday, the activities of ZNTU as a whole, as well as the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists in particular, were presented. The problem of ensuring access of young scientists from post-Soviet countries to scientific digital libraries and the low number of foreign publications in partner universities from the CIS were noted. The proposals of the University of Žilina regarding the organization and publication on its basis of a new scientific journal for the publication of research results of young scientists of partner universities were considered and supported.
In the speech of Prof. V. Levashenko of the Zhilin University was offered free of charge to transfer to partner universities software for automating the organization of scientific research work of young scientists in the aspect of completing diploma theses. The issue of providing partner universities with equipment at the expense of the European Commission was also considered. In particular, the purchase of new computer equipment for ZNTU is planned.
Representative of ZNTU prof. S.O. Subbotin was invited and included in the work of the program committee of the international scientific conference on digital technologies «Digital Technologies 2014», which will be held in Zhilin this year under the auspices of IEEE and ESRA, the publications of which will be included in the SCOPUS scientometric database and the IEEE digital library.
Also, the organizers provided an interesting cultural program for the participants, which included excursions and joint events to establish contacts between representatives of partner universities.
