International project for young scientists CERES
Zaporizhzhia National Technical University actively participates in the implementation of the international project «Сenters of Excellence for young RESearchers» (CERES) of the «Tempus» program of the European Commission (registration number 544137-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-SK-TEMPUS-JPHES). The main goal of the project is to improve the conditions for conducting research by young scientists in accordance with the research and innovation concept and implement a partnership program between enterprises and universities from the EU countries, Belarus and Ukraine.
On April 28-29, 2014, representatives of Zaporizhzhia National Technical University, project coordinator, professor, doctor of technical sciences S.O. Subbotin and project expert, associate professor, doctor of technical sciences A.O. Oliynyk visited the University of Žilina (Žilina, Slovak Republic), where they participated in the project kick-off meeting together with representatives of partner universities from Žilina (Slovakia), Brno (Czech Republic), Padeborn (Germany), the cities of Gomel, Brest, Minsk (Belarus), and the cities of Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk (Ukraine).
The meeting was opened with welcoming words to the project participants by the rector of the University of Žilina, Prof., Doctor of Philosophy T. Chorejova, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Informatics Prof., Doctor of Philosophy E. Krsak, and the project coordinator from the University of Žilina, Prof., Doctor of Philosophy K. Matiashko. The participants got acquainted with the main objectives of the project and the planned means of achieving and controlling them, and determined priority actions for the near future.
Representatives of partner universities made presentations of the universities. In particular, the report of Prof. S.O. Subbotin presented the activities of both ZNTU as a whole and the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists in particular.
The problem of ensuring access of young scientists from post-Soviet countries to scientific digital libraries and the low number of foreign publications in partner universities from the CIS were noted. The proposals of the University of Zhilin on the organization and publication on its basis of a new scientific journal for publishing the results of research by young scientists from partner universities were considered and supported.
The representative of ZNTU, Prof. S.O. Subbotin, also worked as a member of the program committee of the International Scientific Conference on Digital Technologies «Digital Technologies–2014» (Zhylina, July 9-11, 2104) and invited to further work at the conference, which will be held next year under the auspices of IEEE and ESRA, the publications in the collection of which will be included in the SCOPUS scientometric database and the IEEE digital library.
On October 30-31, 2014, the second meeting on the project was held at the University of Zhilinsk, in which Professor S.O. Subbotin and Associate Professor A.O. Oliynyk participated from Zaporizhzhia National Technical University. At the meeting, an agreement on cooperation between ZNTU and Zhilinsk University on the implementation of the project was concluded. The issues of creating a web portal for organizing the work and interaction of young scientists in conducting scientific research were discussed. Representatives of ZNTU proposed a system of criteria for assessing the quality of the portal’s work, provided proposals for its implementation and features of implementation in regional specifics. The work of our university representatives was highly appreciated by the meeting participants.
The issue of providing equipment to partner universities at the expense of the European Commission was considered. In particular, it is planned to purchase new computer equipment for ZNTU.
Thanks to the participation of Zaporizhzhia National Technical University in the project, students, postgraduates and teachers will have the opportunity to present the results of their research to a wide audience (both in Ukraine and abroad), including potential employers.
