International Winter School on Data Analysis at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University
From December 2 to 6, 2019, the International Winter School on Data Analysis was held at the Department of Software at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University within the framework of the DAAD project «Virtual Master Cooperation on Data Science» (ViMaCs) with partial support from the academic mobility of teachers of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.
In addition to teachers and students of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, representatives of universities from Germany (Daniel Fruhner, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts), Belgium (Dr. Lynn Houthuys, W. Lutin, Thomas More University of Applied Science), Ukraine (Dr. Tech., Prof. Olena Varenych, Professor of the Kyiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture and Ph.D. Tech. Oleksandr Osolinsky, Associate Professor of the Ternopil National Economic University) participated in the work of the school. Also, industrial partners of the Department of Software M. Khokhlov (Datax), E. Spassky and R. Kotov (WeMyIT) gave lectures on technological solutions and developments in the field of data processing and analysis.
The importance of the event for the internationalization of the work of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University was noted by the rector, Dr. of Technical Sciences, Prof. S. B. Belikov and the vice-rector for scientific work and international activities, Dr. of Technical Sciences, Prof. V. V. Naumik, who discussed issues of further cooperation during meetings with foreign and Ukrainian partners.
During the winter school, numerous students and teachers of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University were able to listen to lectures by foreign and Ukrainian teachers, take part in practical classes, establish personal contacts with partners from other universities, and expand their knowledge of foreign culture. At the end of the event, the lecturers and participants received certificates of participation. The excursion to Infocom Ltd. (E. Trotsenko) was interesting for the School participants.
On the part of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, the event was organized by the coordinator of the ViMaCs project, prof. of the Department of Software Tabunshchyk G.V. and the head of the Department of Software Subbotin S.O. Significant technical support for the event was provided by the head of the laboratory of the Department of Software Andreyev M.O. and the senior laboratory assistant of the Department of software tools Kostyuk V.G. Other departments of NU «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic» also participated in the work of the School: the Museum of Technical Progress, the International Department, the ITEZ Department, the Automobile Department, the EPA Department.
The continuation of this school will be schools at partner universities under the ViMaCs project, as well as the International Days of NU «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic» and the Third International Seminar «Computer Modeling and Intelligent Systems» scheduled for 2020.
