Ministry of Education demands ban on sale of alcohol and tobacco in universities
The corresponding order, aimed at creating proper conditions for ensuring the educational process, was signed by Minister of Education Dmytro Tabachnyk
Heads of educational institutions of I-IV accreditation levels are instructed to take measures to categorically ban the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in the premises and on the territories of educational institutions.
To this end, heads of educational institutions are instructed to initiate early termination of lease agreements with business entities that trade in alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in places prohibited by law.
Also, heads of higher education institutions must ensure that explanatory work is carried out among pupils, students and teaching staff regarding the norms of the legislation regarding responsibility for drinking beer, alcoholic and low-alcohol beverages.
In the event of violations of the legislation on the sale and consumption of alcoholic and tobacco products, the guilty persons must be brought to administrative responsibility.
Personal responsibility for failure to comply with the order is assigned to the heads of educational institutions. The relevant bodies of the ministry will carry out a check on the status of implementation of the order on the ground.
