ZNTU campus tennis cup
On the eve of the last day of winter, the Cup of the ZNTU Student Campus in table tennis took place, which was held in dormitory #2 with the participation of the teams of «hosts of the field», ZNTU dormitory #4 and the Zaporizhzhia College of Radio Engineering dormitory. Before the tournament, each of the dormitories was selected for the national team, so we were waiting for the battle of the elite, virtuosos of the racket.
The team of arbitrators included 2 men: Harry Moroz, who was responsible for record keeping and discipline control, and Komel Mohammad, who directly conducted the arbitration.
Despite the rain outside the window and six o’clock in the evening on the clock, it was hot in the tournament room, because the most interesting battles took place there, which took place according to the principle of the championship (up to two wins for a won game – 1 point). No one wanted to give up, so most matches ended with a «slippery» score. 12 matches were played, the players produced tense streaks again and again. Since each athlete had his own style and characteristics, it was impossible to know for sure: whether we would see a technical game with jokes in micro-pauses, or powerful strokes of determined tennis players, whose petrified faces betrayed mad tension and focus on the result.
The team of the second dormitory had an equal number of points with the team of the fourth, so the final match took place between them. It was the culmination of an already tense evening, in which the captains of the teams met in battle. In a very difficult match, the team of the 2nd dormitory won, for which we congratulate them!
The award ceremony began with warm words. The first word was given to one of the main initiators and organizers of the tournament, ex-head of student self-government of dormitory #2 Harry Moroz. He cordially invited the residents of other ZNTU dormitories, who have the desire to play table tennis, but do not have such an opportunity due to the lack of equipment, to «visit». A solemn speech was also made by the deputy head of the ZNTU student campus, Vadym Keda, who expressed his joy for the sports achievements of our students. And then the top three of each dormitory were announced. So, we have the following results:
Collective dormitory of ZNTU No. 2:
- 3rd place – Tsukanov Gordiy;
- 2nd place – Shvyd Serhiy;
- 1st place – Trushchenko Valerii.
Collective dormitory of ZNTU No. 4:
- 3rd place – Mykola Zyuzin;
- 2nd place – Fokin Oleksandr;
- 1st place – Dmytro Kolesnyk.
ZKR prefab dormitory:
- 3rd place – Zalata Yurii;
- 2nd place – Podlubny Oleksandr;
- 1st place – Danylchenko Artem.
Under wild applause, the audience listened to the results of the team competition:
- 3rd place went to the team of the Zaporizhzhia College of Radio Engineering led by Volodymyr Akulov;
- 2nd place was won by the team of ZNTU dormitory No. 4, led by Volodymyr Mishchenko;
- And the 1st place was won by the team of ZNTU dormitory No. 2, led by Dmytro Kapustyan!
Dmytro, the captain of the winners, shared his emotions with us: «As one of the organizers, I want to express my gratitude to the ZNTU students’ trade union committee and all the participants of today’s competition. And as a winner, I am very happy! There was intrigue until the last, the game was on the edge, but we won! I’m happy for the team, I’m happy that the cup will be with us.»
Also, we spoke with another important person of the tournament, Harry Moroz: «In my opinion, the event went well. We plan to support this and hold similar tournaments year after year. I would like to thank my assistants: Dmytro Kapustyan, Mohammad Komel, Doli Andrii. Now we expect the following competitions: football, arm wrestling, billiards. Because such events bring people together, and that’s great.»
We, in turn, are also grateful to the organizers for the invitation, a great time and hospitality, and to the participants for an exciting game!
