ZNTU Rector’s Cup in Handball

On October 17, 2014, the grand opening of the handball tournament for the ZNTU Rector’s Cup took place.

The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Valerii Oleksiyovych Baranov, came to open the competition. He wished the participating teams health and peace. The participants were also congratulated by the head of the ZNTU student trade union committee, Andriy Volodymyrovych Ivanchenko, and the rector of the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University, Serhiy Borysovych Belikov, announcing the opening of the handball tournament.

Then the chief referee of the competition – Dmytro Serhiyovych Kornienko – blew the first whistle, which marked the beginning of the first game.

And the tournament began with an exhibition game of the GC «ZNTU-ZAS». The guys were divided into two teams – «blue» and «red». The exhibition match ended with a score of «15:19» in favor of the «red» team.

The teams «GPF» and «FEU-GF» took part in the second game. It was very interesting to watch the players, because the fight turned out to be tense and unpredictable. At the end of the match, the «GPF» team was able to snatch victory from its rivals with a score of «17:15».

And the last game, which closed this game day, was between the teams «IFF» and «MF». From the first to the last minute, it was not clear who would still be able to snatch victory. But at the end of the match, the «MF» team probably got tired and missed a series of goals. As a result – victory of the «IFF» team with the score «17:10»!

I was very pleased that many students expressed their desire to participate in this tournament. I can only be happy, because this competition made it clear that healthy and active youth study at ZNTU, who prefer sports and education!
