Coordination meeting of the TEMPUS CERES project in Gomel

In the city of Gomel (Republic of Belarus) on April 21-23, 2016, the fifth coordination meeting of the participants of the international project «Centers of Excellence for young RESearchers» (CERES – «Centers of excellence for young scientists») of the «Tempus» program of the European Commission of the Commission (registration number 544137-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-SK-TEMPUS-JPHES) was held. The meeting was attended by teachers and young scientists from universities in Germany (Padeborn), Slovakia (Žilina), Belarus (Gomel, Brest, Minsk) and Ukraine (Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia). From the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University (ZNTU), the head of the department of software tools, professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences participated in the meeting. S. O. The meeting was opened by the Rector of the Gomel State University named after Mr. Skoryny A. V. Rogachev and the project coordinator from the University of Žilina (Žilina, Slovakia) Prof. Dr. K. Matiashko.

Participants of the meeting took part in the work of the scientific conference «Current issues of physics and technology», where the results of young scientists, postgraduate students and master’s students from Belarus, Ukraine, Slovakia and other countries were presented. The work of the conference was divided into sections «New materials and technologies», «Modeling of physical processes», «Automation of research», «Methodology of teaching physics».

As part of the meeting, representatives of the CERES project teams visited the Gomel Science and Technology Park, where they discussed the main issues of creating favorable conditions for the development of small and medium-sized organizations created by young researchers and working in the field of innovative business. The participants of the meeting exchanged experience on the promotion of new technologies, as well as the development of international cooperation in the field of innovation. Director of the technopark D.M. Morozov informed the participants of the meeting about tax benefits and other opportunities received by residents of the technology park, in particular, the institution’s administration helps young researchers by assisting in the creation of industries with new technologies, carrying out foreign economic activities with the aim of promoting products to the foreign market, highlighting the activities of residents in the mass media, consulting on minimizing costs during project implementation.

The participants of the meeting mentioned the problems of the development of youth science and the practical implementation of the results of the research of young scientists. It is noted that the CERES portal, developed by the project consortium, will provide a qualitatively new level of preparation and implementation of scientific works of young specialists and scientists. This will allow covering all levels of higher education from bachelor’s to master’s and postgraduate, as well as uniting young scientists from several countries to research current scientific problems. On the CERES portal, representatives of industrial enterprises can set scientific and applied tasks, the solution of which young scientists will be able to undertake in their research. The joint work of local and international groups of young scientists will be organized through the portal.

Representatives of partner universities gave presentations on the implementation of the project. In particular, in the report of Prof. S. O. Subbotina highlighted the results of the activity of the CERES team of ZNTU for the last six months and plans for the future periods.

As a result of consultations held with international partners, an agreement was reached on the implementation of joint scientific research with partners from Slovakia and other countries. According to the results of the meeting, its participants agreed on future cooperation in the implementation of the project, dissemination of its results in the form of seminars, conferences, trainings and a summer school, which is planned to be held in 2016 at ZNTU.
