Competition «Aviator-2016»
The first event, recently created at ZNTU with the support of the rector Serhii Belikov, the International Center CIDECS, was the organization of the participation of students of our university in the project «Aviator-2016». The official opening of the competition took place last week in Kyiv. Our university was represented at the opening by Serhii Belikov, who welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude to the organizers of the Boris Kolesnikov Charitable Foundation for supporting young people who are passionate about aviation. It is worth noting that the project «Aviator» is annual and is being held for the fifth time. ZNTU is participating in it for the first time. The goal of the project – to develop and support Ukrainian students of aviation specialties, to motivate and encourage talented youth with annual trips to the Farnborough and Le Bourget International Air Shows.
The following took part in the opening ceremony: Boris Kolesnikov – president of the Charitable Foundation; Sofiia Mudryk – director of the Boris Kolesnikov Charitable Foundation; Dmytro Kiva – general designer of the Antonov State Aircraft Corporation; representatives of universities participating in the competition; industry experts; students of aviation specialties; representatives of the media.
Boris Kolesnikov congratulated the students on the start of the competition and wished them good luck: «I sincerely congratulate the students of technical aviation specialties on the start of the Aviator-2016 competition! This year the rules of participation have changed slightly. But the stricter the conditions, the higher the result. You have a great chance. Our task is to hold a competition, organize a good program in London, but the main thing, of course, will be Farnborough, and your task is to win.
During the press conference, the organizers spoke about the stages of the «Aviator» competition and innovations. In 2016, participants will face six stages – testing in the history and theory of aviation, technical sciences, English, solving a business case and defending a motivational presentation. In addition to students of our university studying in the field of «Engines and power plants of aircraft», the geography of the project includes participants from aviation universities and colleges from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kirovograd, Dnipropetrovsk, Sloviansk, Kryvyi Rih and Kremenchuk.
100 winners will be selected based on the results of the competition. In the summer of 2016, they will visit the Farnborough International Aviation Forum in London. During the trip to the specialized exhibition, future aviators will talk with specialists, get acquainted with the achievements of the global aviation industry and be the first to see the latest innovations in the industry.
Last year, the Boris Kolesnikov Foundation encouraged a record number of participants of the «Aviator» with a trip to the Le Bourget air show in Paris – 109 winners from NAU, Khai, KPI and Kirovograd Flight Academy. I hope that this year the students of the «Aviation Engine Technology» department will compete with their colleagues from the leading aviation educational institutions of Ukraine.
