The Hobbit or There and Back Again
Why do we go to the movies? Because we are bored and want to have fun? Or do we just have the opportunity and a couple of free hours? Most often, it is a combination of all three reasons. Going to the movies is a small event, a way to relax, have fun and spend time with benefit. And if a film from a world-class director is shown, based on the work of a world-famous writer – it is even more interesting.
On December 18, on the eve of St. Mykola Day, the Trade Union Committee of students, graduate students and doctoral candidates of ZNTU presented our students with the opportunity to go to a pre-premiere screening of the second part of the trilogy «The Hobbit, or There and Back Again». Yes, yes, it is the pre-premiere – do you feel the full importance of the event? ZNTU students were the first in Zaporizhzhia to see the long-awaited continuation of the saga! Unfortunately, not all students can afford a trip to the cinema at current prices. Therefore, the price of tickets was a pleasant addition to the film. Although, I would have paid the regular price for a ticket, just to see another film adaptation of the legendary story!
For those who are not fans of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, a little excursion into the plot of the story. Once the wizard Gandalf visited the decent hobbit Bilbo Baggins and marked his dwelling with a symbol, which meant that an experienced thief who was looking for work lived here. Because of this sign, the dwarves later visited him. They all went together to find the treasure of the father and grandfather of one of the dwarves – Thorin. The fifteen travelers had many adventures on their way, such as encounters with trolls, goblins (it was after being captured by the goblins that Bilbo met Gollum and stole the Ring of Power from him – I think everyone knows perfectly well who Gollum is and what kind of ring that is), giant wolves, spiders, wood elves and, finally, a dragon guarding the treasures. Of course, the little hobbit helps his friends out of almost every adventure and helps kill the dragon.
On December 18, the second part of the screenplay was shown, which tells about a trip to the mountain with a dragon after an adventure with trolls. In my opinion, not the most interesting part of the story, but without it the picture would not be so complete. As you can see, the plot is for a fan of adventure-fantasy films, with a lot of special effects, new races, dragons and a medieval landscape. If you watched «The Lord of the Rings», based on the trilogy of the same author and, by the way, the same director – Petro Jackson, then you will definitely find this film very interesting for you.
At the very end, we express our gratitude to the Professional Committee of students, postgraduates and doctoral students of ZNTU for the opportunity to have a good time and see a great movie. It would be good to organize such trips more often, I think all students will agree with me.
