X International Scientific and Technical Conference «Advanced Technologies of the Life Cycle of Aviation Engines and Power Plants»
On September 23-28, the next International Scientific and Technical Conference «Advanced Technologies of the Life Cycle of Aviation Engines and Power Plants» was held in Alushta, which was held jointly by Zaporizhzhia National Technical University and JSC «Motor Sich».
It should be noted that this was the tenth in a row, and therefore the conference celebrated its first anniversary. Therefore, the scientific and business climate that prevailed at the conference was added a sense of some solemnity and celebration, which was natural, since the conference was dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the general designer Oleksandr Georgievich Ivchenko.
In the opening speech, the deputy first head of the enterprise of the state enterprise «Ivchenko-Progress» – chief engineer G.I. Peycheav, with special warmth, expressed words of gratitude for the truly heroic labor feat of O.G. Ivchenko.
The speech of the rector of ZNTU, Prof. S.B. Belikov strengthened the participants of the conference, and especially among ZNTU scientists, a sense of optimism and expediency of scientific activity. The granddaughter of Oleksandr Georgievich Ivchenko, leading engineer of the State Enterprise «Ivchenko-Progress» Nataliia Andreichenko shared her memories of the life of her outstanding grandfather.
Under the leadership of the head of the organizing committee, Prof. Oleksiy Yakovych Kachan, special attention was paid to such scientific and practical areas as increasing the durability of machine parts by methods of surface deformation hardening, protective coatings for parts of power plants, methods of repair and restoration of rotary engines, methods of diagnostics and non-destructive testing, and assessment of fatigue resistance parameters of structural materials.
The role of the conference in the life of the scientific community is huge and multifunctional. According to formal signs, it boils down only to the speeches of the speakers under the supervision of a strict jury. In reality, everything is a little different, and the «tenth», so briefly and at the same time capaciously, the conference was called among itself by its participants, demonstrated this in full. Each 10-15-minute report was followed by a report on the work done by one or three people (co-authors), as well as entire teams. Many people went to these results for more than one year. After the reports, such fierce disputes arose that the heads of the sections, professors Oleksiy Yakovych Kachan and Leonid Iosypovich Ivshchenko, had to almost literally separate the supporters and opponents of the issue under discussion. Active opponents of the reports were professors: E.I. Tsyvirko, O.A. Mityaev, V.V. Naumik, V.V. Girzhon and associate professors: Y.V. Mastinovsky, N.V. Gonchar, V.I. Glushko, V.M. Sazhnev, V.G. Shevchenko, D.V. Pavlenko, D.V. Tkach.
It is worth noting the high level of scientific novelty and practical value of the results of research by ZNTU scientists. Thus, associate professor of the Department of «Heat Engineering and Hydraulics» S.O. Bezhenov proposed a new approach to assessing the parameters of fatigue resistance of structural materials based on their acoustic emission characteristics. Associate Professor of the Department of «Aviation Engine Technology» D.V. Pavlenko reported on the development of a new resource-saving technology for obtaining compact billets of complex-alloyed titanium alloys using the powder metallurgy method, which will be the basis of his doctoral dissertation. Director of the Scientific and Research Center «Titan Zaporizhzhia» Associate Professor O.V. Ovchinnikov reported on the results of research on obtaining semi-finished products from titanium alloys of the LOW-COST series.
By the decision of the conference presidium, the report of the associate professor of the department of «Micro- and Nanoelectronics» G.V. Snizhny «On the possibility of the formation of intermediate ε-martensite in manganese and chromium-nickel steels during compression deformation» prepared in co-authorship with prof. of the department of «Applied Materials Science» V.Yu. Olshanetsky and the head of the ZNTU NDC, associate professor V.M. Sazhnev.
The report of the representative of the department of the chief welder of JSC «Motor Sich» O.G. Seliverstov, as well as representatives of ZNU – prof. V.V. Girzhon and asp. V.M. Kovalyova and the guests of the conference: R.P. Prydorozhnyi (DP «Ivchenko-Progress»), O.R. Lepeshkina (CIAM, Moscow), S.M. Skyrty (NPO «Saturn», Rybinsk).
In addition to the function of summing up, the conference contributed to the formation of new scientific tasks and problems, as well as the generation of new ideas and solutions that seemed impossible yesterday.
It is necessary to note one more very important component of the conference – and its name is «YOUNG». And if we allow ourselves to very carefully draw an allegory with the novel «How Steel Was Tempered», then it was at the conference, and at the «Ten» it was felt especially, the core of the future scientific potential in aircraft and engine building was being formed. Postgraduate student T.A. Glotka gave a report on the implementation of intensive plastic deformation in heat-resistant titanium alloy VT25U. Doctoral student M.V. Sydorenko proposed new methods for optimizing electromagnetic control of surface layers of gas turbine gear wheels made of heat-resistant steels. And a young lecturer at the TMS department Stepanov D.M. presented to the scientific community a report on the use of a flexible abrasive tool for shaping the profile of the edges of the gas turbine blade shanks.
All participants and guests of the conference agreed that the work of the conference was organized at the highest level, which is undoubtedly due to the organizational committee, which included: chairman A.Ya. Kachan and deputy chairman L.Ya. Ivshchenko, executive secretary N.V. Sakhnyuk, as well as D.V. Pavlenko, V.I. Gembel, N.O. Savchuk.
