Quarantine is not a time for relaxation and rest, but an opportunity to broaden your worldview and gain new knowledge
From March 12, 2020 to April 24, 2020, quarantine was introduced in Ukraine, in connection with which classroom classes at the Faculty of International Tourism and Economics changed their format, and teachers and students were transferred to work in a flexible and remote mode using information and communication technologies, ensuring a full-fledged educational process.
Quarantine measures have become a challenge for everyone, but not an obstacle to an effective educational process, therefore, teachers of four departments of the faculty, together with students, use alternative forms and means to obtain high-quality theoretical knowledge and practical skills, without disrupting the schedule of the educational process of future specialists of the faculty’s specialties. Students of the faculty meet with their teachers not in the university classrooms, but on the Internet, using the "Distance Learning System of the National University "Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic" or any other mobile learning platforms, video conferencing and communication tools in applications and video chats Zoom, Google Classroom, Viber, Skype, Messenger, Facebook, Telegram, e-mail and others.
The dean’s office, curators of academic groups, and head teachers constantly maintain contact with students, coordinating the education of students.
The quarantine did not prevent scientific communication: teachers and students participate in the work of Internet and distance conferences, in particular: International Scientific and Practical Conference «Administrative-territorial vs. economic-spatial borders of regions» (KNEU, March 19-20, 2020); Annual Scientific and Practical Conference of Teachers, Scientists, Young Scientists, Postgraduate Students and Students «Science Week-2020» (Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, April 13-17, 2020); III International Scientific and Practical Conference «Competitive Model of Innovative Development of the Economy of Ukraine» (TSNTU, April 14, 2020) and others. Scientists had the opportunity to express their opinions on socio-economic vectors of development at the micro-, meso- and macro-levels, tourism and recreation potential of Ukraine, the introduction of innovations in various sectors of the economy, including the tourism industry; and also to publish the results of their research. This form of scientific communication opens up broad horizons for scientific research and improves the qualifications of future specialists.
According to official information from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, for students of higher education institutions, not graduating years, the academic year will end as planned. Universities will be able to hold examination and test sessions remotely, therefore, in the event of a continuation of quarantine, we are preparing for such a scenario.
The quarantine period also opens up opportunities for self-improvement and informal education: many Internet resources have been opened, so this period of time can be used to develop your leadership skills, public speaking or learning a foreign language. Today, virtual tours, online performances and concerts are offered. A positive mood and pleasant emotions increase immunity and reduce the risk of disease.
Dear students and teachers! So that we can meet with you as soon as possible and continue the learning process in the usual format, I strongly recommend that you responsibly treat the official recommendations for protection against the COVID-19 coronavirus, do not forget about observing sanitary and hygienic standards and carrying out preventive measures that minimize the risk of disease, preserve your health and the health of your loved ones.
