Today in Ukraine, the question of training specialists who will meet the requirements of modern society is relevant, therefore the state needs high-quality training of specialists in the social sphere. The Department of Social Work of ZNTU successfully trains highly qualified specialists in social work who are competitive on the labor market (100% of masters of social work of ZNTU are employed).

In the process of training specialists, students of the social work specialty of ZNTU acquire sociological, psychological and legal knowledge, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills in the field of social work. Practical training is carried out in Zaporizhzhia and the region, as well as in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Germany. In this direction, a program of educational practice has been developed, according to agreements with institutions. Full-fledged practical training takes place in centers and departments of social guidance (social services for children, families and youth, services for children, labor administrations, social protection of the population and health care, boarding houses, specialized boarding schools, employment and career guidance centers, geriatric institutions, social shelters, rehabilitation centers, medical and social examination departments); in authorities and local self-government; in analytical centers; in non-governmental organizations (volunteer organizations, charitable foundations), etc.

The sphere of activity of a social worker is management of the social sphere; civil service; the field of education, health care; sociological research; public opinion survey; social administration; social policy; socio-political analysis; social consulting; social advertising; social marketing; public and charitable activities; personnel management; public relations.

For admission to the specialty of social work at ZNTU, applicants must provide certificates of the Ukrainian National Technical University in the following subjects: 1. Ukrainian language and literature (basic level). 2. History of Ukraine. 3. Biology.

Management of a social institution

The modern and prospective needs of the Zaporizhzhia region for specialists in the specialty «Management of a social institution» demonstrate the presence of demand for specialists in this specialty in the region. Compliance with the licensing requirements allows the department of social work of ZNTU to conduct master’s training in the specialty 8.18010001 «Management of a social institution».

Global trends in the transformation of market relations actualize the application of marketing in social management. Corporate management of social processes should be involved in the development of the social sphere, which will create conditions for improving the mechanisms of municipal and regional development and increasing the competitiveness of communities.

Analysis of the work of social institutions in different countries shows that the administration of organizations providing social services requires special knowledge, skills and abilities. At the faculties of social work in many universities in Europe and America, social workers are trained in the field of «Social Administration». The competence of the institution’s administration has a great influence on the efficiency of the staff’s work and on the achievement of the set goals, because an incompetent manager can nullify all the efforts of the employees.

The Department of Social Work of ZNTU has all the possibilities of high-quality training of specialists of the educational and qualification level of the master’s degree in the specialty 8.18010001 «Management of a social institution» both for organizations and enterprises of the region. The training of specialists by the department of social work is coordinated with local organizations and institutions, meets their requirements regarding specialization and quality of training.
