«Ivan the Strong» conquered students
On October 9, 2013, the premiere of the film «Ivan the Strong» by Ukrainian director Viktor Andrienko took place at the Dovzhenko Cinema.
There was not a single free seat in the cinema, because the students responded with great enthusiasm to the initiative of our student government for a joint trip to the cinema. After all, the administration itself set an excellent example and, together with us, happily immersed itself in watching the film. The following were present at the film screening: rector Serhiy Borisovich Belikov, vice-rector for AGR Chechel Mykola Volodymyrovych, chairman of the student trade union committee Ivanchenko Andriy Volodymyrovych, his deputy Dubyna Vadym Mykolaovych and representatives of all faculties of our university. And we did not regret our choice at all.
Firstly: our youth got a unique opportunity to become the stars of the debut of the brilliant Ukrainian comedian, and now also the director Viktor Andrienko.
And secondly: we had a great time in our friendly company. But, most importantly, we had the honor to personally talk and take a photo for memory with the main characters of the film: Dmytro Khaladzhi, Vasyl Bendas, Oleh Grigoriev, who were happy to answer all the questions of the inquisitive audience.
«Ivan Sila» – is a story about a Ukrainian – the strongest man on the planet. A story about the power of the human heart, about the invincibility of truth, which is based on real events from the life of the outstanding Ukrainian wrestler Ivan Fedorovych Firtsak, who in 1928 was recognized as the strongest man on the planet.
The actor who played the role of Firtsak – Dmytro Khaladzhi (Ukrainian powerlifting champion), in 2011 – 2012 worked in the USA, in the circus «Wrestling Brothers», but in the summer of 2012, when he received an offer to play the main role in the film «Ivan the Strong», without hesitation broke the contract with the American circus.
He noted that Ivan Sila became an example for him to follow since childhood, he first learned about the Ukrainian strongman from the newspaper «Soviet Sport»; he also noted: «This film not only tells about the fate of this circus performer, one of the strongest people of the 20th century – the film presents a collective image of most of our circus athletes, closely interwoven with various fragments from the lives of Ivan Poddubny, Ivan Zaikin, Ivan Shemyakin, Ivan Firtsak.»
Regarding the film «Ivan Sila» itself, Dmytro Khaladzhi expressed the following opinion: “Unfortunately, now his name is undeservedly forgotten, and the modern generation knows little about him or has heard nothing at all… For some reason, it turns out that there are many examples for the younger generation in the history of our country, but we do not notice them. Most often we pay attention to other people’s heroes. But we need to remember our own, national heritage».
Therefore, a special thank you to the student government and the administration of ZNTU for organizing leisure and enriching our consciousness with facts about national heroes and heritage of our country, because the film tells about the life of a sincere and strong man, who by his example encourages us to good deeds and honesty.
