Anniversary of the department of software tools

The Department of Software Tools of Zaporizhzhia National Technical University has been an active participant in international educational projects for 10 years (2006-2016). anniversary flyer (png, 680 KB) is dedicated to this date, which highlights the main achievements of ZNTU and, in particular, the department of software tools thanks to the TEMPUS&ERASMUS+ programs with the support of the European Commission.

This year two closely related projects ICo-op «Industrial cooperation and creative engineering education based on remote engineering and virtual toolkit» and DESIRE «Development of embedded systems courses using innovative virtual approaches for integration of science, education and industry in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia».

The result of the synergy of these two projects was the new Laboratory of Embedded Systems and Virtual Engineering, which was solemnly opened in October last year with the support of ZNTU rector Serhii Belikov with the participation of European partners and business representatives.

Today, two scientific groups have been created on the basis of the laboratory: developers of the remote laboratory RELDES (REmote Laboratory for Design of Embedded Systems) (head: associate professor Anzhelika Parkhomenko) and researchers of the reliability of embedded systems ISRT (Informational System Reliability Team) (head: professor Halyna Tabunshchik).

The result of the fruitful scientific work of teachers within the framework of the ICo-op project was the monograph «Remote and virtual toolkit in engineering» under the general editorship of the project coordinator, professor of the Ilmenau University of Technology (Germany) K. Henke, the team of authors: A. Parkhomenko, G. Tabunshchik, M. Polyakov, O. Gladkova, T. Kaplienko, T. Larionov (department software tools and the department of electrical and electronic devices). To date, the authors have also prepared for publication a study guide in English «Remote and virtual tools in engineering».

Together with colleagues from the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» with the support of the ICo-op project, the book «Innovative Entrepreneurship» was published under the general editorship of Professor O. Savchenko of the National Technical University «KhPI», with the participation of a team of authors from the National National Technical University consisting of: A. Sokolov, D. Vasylichev, A. Karpenko, L. Vasiliev (Department of Personnel Management and Economics labor).

According to the program of the DESIRE project, work is currently being completed on several training manuals, which are planned to be published in the summer of this year.

University teachers, according to project programs, completed internships at leading European universities and, as a result, conducted trainings for their colleagues at ZNTU. European colleagues Carsten Henke (Technical University of Ilmenau, Germany), Dirk van Merode (Thomas More Mechelen-Antwerp, Belgium) and Petro Aras (Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium) held master classes for students, postgraduates and teachers of ZNTU last October.

Thanks to the project executors, the ZNTU Distance Learning System became operational. As part of the DESIRE project, in October of last year, the teachers of the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University held a seminar for ZNTU teachers «Creating a modern electronic course in the Moodle system». At this time, the structure of the university’s educational courses has been created, in which the disciplines developed under the TEMPUS projects occupy an important place. To date, university teachers have developed 4 new disciplines under the ICo-op project, which are offered by the ZNTU Business School to improve the qualifications of industry specialists. And within the framework of the DESIRE project, 18 educational modules have already been modernized or developed from scratch, and this work is still ongoing.

As part of the ICo-op project, pilot training under the special program «Remote and Virtual Instrumentation in Engineering» was completed in the summer of last year. Forty seven participants? representatives of industrial enterprises and companies of the Zaporizhzhia region, students and teachers of ZNTU received new knowledge, practical skills and relevant certificates. To the best students and teachers? Certificates were handed to the authors of the new disciplines personally by Professor Carsten Henke, the coordinator of the ICo-op project, during his visit to ZNTU last October.

During the implementation of these two projects, ZNTU cooperation agreements were signed with such IT companies as: AKTIV, PROKOM, Noosphere Ventures, Livestream LLC, Brig Retail. This makes it possible to organize high-level internships and graduation of students, to offer professional development programs for the personnel of companies and enterprises, as well as to carry out joint scientific research.

Fruitful interaction has been established and cooperation agreements have been concluded with European universities: Ilmenau University of Technology (Germany), Transylvania University (Romania), Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium), Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (Slovakia), Thomas More University College Mechelen-Antwerp (Belgium), University of Agriculture in Nitra (Slovakia).

Projects within the framework of the TEMPUS&ERASMUS+ program provide new opportunities for the development of education and science at ZNTU and contribute to integration into the European cultural and economic space.

Anzhelika Parkhomenko,
associate professor of the department of software
