Engineering competitions EBEC Challenge’17 within the framework of the BEST student organization

The local stage of the European engineering competition EBEC Challenge took place at the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University.

Organizers of the event are traditionally active students of ZNTU, who are members of the international student organization BEST (Council of Students of Technical Universities of Europe), which has been engaged in cultural and scientific exchange between various universities in 33 European countries for 28 years.

For the tenth time, the EBEC engineering competition unites young, talented, enterprising students. The local stage of the EBEC Challenge’17 competition was held under the same motto – «Design The Future. Today». The main goal of this project is to create favorable conditions for the implementation of extraordinary engineering ideas and the creation of new inventions that can change the world for the better in the future.

Students were able to try their hand at one of two categories: Case Study – solving analytical tasks, researching an object, problem or process, presenting a strategic model of action in a specific situation in the form of a presentation; Team Design – modeling or designing of technical structures.

The competition took place over three days from November 2 to 4. The Kness company provided tasks for the Case Study category, and the Diacom company – for the Team Design category. Competition partners Infocom, BIIR, KMZ Industries held presentations of their companies.

This year, 10 teams competed in the local stage of EBEC. In the Team Design category, the team «Order of the Orange Screwdriver» (participants – Svitlana Levchenko, Roman Savilov, Artem Babakin, Oleksiy Bezsmertny) took first place, in the Case Study category – the team «Different» (participants – Kostyantyn Mitkin, Vladyslav Khodan, Olena Usichenko, Andriy Chereuta). These teams will take part in the national stage, where they will be able to represent ZNTU with dignity, competing for first place with teams from KPI, VNTU and NULP.
