Internationalization at home

Internationalization at home

One of the facets of the Erasmus+ KA1 program is the opportunity for students, without leaving the walls of their home university, to listen to lectures by teachers from all over the world. The National University «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic» is currently implementing 7 exchange projects with European universities. From May 13 to 16, our students had the opportunity to listen to lectures by Professor P. Arras (Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium) and Professor Carsten Wolf (University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Dortmund, Germany).

Cooperation with the Catholic University of Leuven has been developing since 2012 and already has a certain history of bilateral exchanges (for example: https://zp.edu.ua/uspihy-uchasnykiv-kredytnoyi-mobilnosti-erasmus-ka1, https://zp.edu.ua/vizyt-predstavnykiv-katolyckogo-universytetu-m-loven-belgiya-do-zntu). This time, students of the Mechanical Engineering Institute listened to lectures by Professor P. Arras «Modern transport energy supply systems» and «3D printing».

Professor Carsten Wolf gave a lecture within the framework of the ZNTU Business Incubator «Innovative projects based on the project approach», within the framework of which students and teachers of the departments of Software, Information Technologies of Electronic Design and Construction Production and Project Management had the opportunity to get acquainted with three different models for startups.

Cooperation between Zaporizhzhia National Technical University and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund began to develop in 2015, but in this relatively short period of time it has already had significant results.

Financing was received within the framework of individual credit mobility for ZNTU students in the field of Computer Science and Technology, as well as Project Management. Students of the Department of Software Tools completed their studies in 2017/2018 academic year, and a student of the Department of Information Technologies of Electronic Tools is currently studying in Dortmund. ZNTU became part of the consortium on project management, innovation and digital transformation and cooperation (https://zp.edu.ua/mizhnarodni-partnery-zntu).

Since 2016, ZNTU students have had the opportunity to participate in winter and summer schools on project management, sustainability and software for the automotive industry at the expense of FH Dortmund.

In 2019, a memorandum of cooperation between our universities was signed.

In recent years, Carsten Wolf has been a member of the organizing committee of international conferences held at ZNTU, in particular «Computer Modeling and Intelligent Systems» (chairman – Dr. of Technical Sciences Prof. Subbotin S.O.), which was abstracted in the international scientometric databases Scopus and DBLP.

That is why, on May 15, 2019, Rector S.B. Belikov held a ceremonial awarding of Prof. Karsten Wolf with the title of Honorary Professor of ZNTU at the extended rectorate.

Members of the delegation from Germany had the opportunity to visit the museum of technical progress of the university, laboratories of the departments of software, electrical devices, radio engineering and telecommunications, cyber-physical systems, and the business incubator of ZNTU.

Guests and teachers of ZNTU visited the company Infocom LTD (director Trotsenko E.A.). The delegation was headed by the vice-rector for scientific work and international activities, Dr. of Technical Sciences, Prof. V.V. Naumyk held a round table with representatives of the industry of Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia region at the Zaporizhzhia Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As part of the cultural program, we were able to surprise guests with the unique Museum of Shipping and Khortytsia Island.
