GreenRoboFest 2017

At the invitation of the Public Organization «Ekosens» (director T. Zhavzharov), representatives of the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University (ZNTU) within the international projects «Development of Embedded System Courses with implementation of Innovative Virtual approaches for Integration of Research, Education and Production in UA, GE» (DESIRE, Ref. No. AM 544091-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-BE-TEMPUS-JPCR) and «Centers of Excellence» for young RESearchers« (CERES, Ref. No. 544137-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-SK-TEMPUS-JPHES) of the »Tempus« program and »Internet of Things: Emerging Curriculum for Industry and Human Applications« (ALIOT, 573818-EPP-1-2016-1-UK-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP) of the »Erasmus+« program of the European Union participated in the organization and holding of the festival robotics GreenRoboFest-2017, which was held on October 1, 2017 in the Palace of Metallurgists.

Participants of the ZNTU visa festival presented the available robotic equipment and talked about possible further studies at the university. The Department of Software (Software) of ZNTU presented robots obtained as a result of the execution of the »Tempus” Desire project at the exhibition stand. Associate professor of the department A.V. Parkhomenko and graduate student A.V. Tulenkov demonstrated to schoolchildren a robot-elephant capable of moving, finding loads and lifting them, as well as a robot capable of following a route marked on the floor. The stand of the PZ department aroused considerable interest among children and their parents, who were interested in further admission to ZNTU for studies. The EPA department (associate professor A.V. Pyrizhok) presented a model of a car wash, the ZI department (associate professor G.V. Nelas) held a master class on cryptography, the ITEZ department (head of the department H.M. Shilo) demonstrated a 3D printer.

Specialists from the technical studios of schoolchildren conducted master classes on the construction of Lego Education robots, MakeBlock, Arduino, programming on Scratch, creating games on Unity, 3D modeling and printing. The exhibition of drones and the stands of the sponsoring companies of the event turned out to be interesting.

At the festival, competitive designs of young scientists – schoolchildren of the Zaporizhzhia region dealing with robotics were also presented. The first place in the project competition was won by the «Station of Young Technicians» from Zaporizhzhia, whose students developed plant watering systems capable of automatically regulating watering and controlling it remotely via mobile communication. Also at the festival, other participants presented the «Smart House» system, the telescope control system, manipulator robots, children’s construction products, chemical experiments, and more. The deputy director of IIRE, dean of FRET V.S. took part in the work of the jury for the selection of projects. Kabak, head of the PZ department S.O. Subbotin, associate professor of the Department of Health Sciences G.V. Nelasa.

Within the festival, robot competitions were held: racing (competition for the speed of passage through the labyrinth), sumo, kegel ring. Children and teenagers participating in the competition demonstrated good knowledge of robotics and programming. The participants of the event were enthusiastic about the competitions they saw and actively cheered.

Numerous souvenirs and prizes, as well as diplomas awarded to the winners, were pleasant for the festival participants.
