ENGLISH CLUB for teachers

One day, a seditious thought comes to the desperate head of a teacher (employee, young specialist, it should be emphasized): don’t I have too much free time? Lectures, practicals, laboratory, independent, supervision of course and master’s courses, olympiads and competitions, scientific work and experiments, monographs, articles and conferences, methodological work, accreditation and licensing, practice at enterprises, internships, candidate or doctoral studies – this is all understandable. No one has canceled family, sports and hobbies either! «Why not organize English courses at your native university?» – an inner voice will suggest an idea. And those skeptics who think that we have lost our way, and instead of getting a little rest, we have found even more trouble on our heads, are very mistaken! Because that unique atmosphere of friendliness and mutual understanding among like-minded people who like to develop in many areas, improve both English and their native language, envelops us as soon as we cross the threshold, plunging into the world of English phrases, rules and idioms. The reward is not only the gradual increase in the level of knowledge, to the extent of your abilities and hard work, but also the pleasure with which you rush to the lesson in anticipation of something new and interesting. Skipping even one lesson is followed by an unpleasant emptiness that you definitely want to avoid next time, practically «tearing yourself out» from the tsunami of urgent matters. This whirlpool of warmth and unity of our such different individuals revolves around the teacher Olena Nikolaevna Khavkina (Department of «Technical Translation»), – a master of her craft, knows how to easily find an apt explanation, analogies, unexpected associations, and make the complex simple, logical and easy to remember. We do not always please her with our achievements or successful essays, but we try, really! Every year several people pass the exam at level B2, new students come, immersing themselves in the same atmosphere of joy of knowledge – and teachers for two pairs a week turn into students running to their favorite lesson.
