Achievements of the Department of Software Tools within the framework of the international educational project ERASMUS+ ALIOT
The term of implementation of the international educational project ALIOT «Internet of Things: a new curriculum for the needs of industry and society» is coming to an end (October 15, 2016-October 14, 2019).
As part of the project, the teachers of the Department of Software Tools have developed several new academic disciplines for graduate students, as well as representatives of industrial enterprises and companies in the region:
– Application of IoT technologies in engineering (Prof. S.O. Subbotin, Assoc. Prof. A.O. Oliynyk);
– Engineering of a software and hardware platform for the Smart Home system (Assoc. Prof. A.V. Parkhomenko);
– Modeling of IoT and IoE systems (Prof. G.V. Tabunshchyk).
Based on the developed materials, in August 2019, two multibooks with lecture and laboratory materials are planned to be published at the project funds.
From May 18 to 20, 2019, the ALIOT Spring School was held at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University. Representatives of all partner universities of Ukraine, as well as universities in the UK (Newcastle-upon-Tyne University and Leeds Beckett University) took part in the work of the school.
Students, postgraduate students and teachers of the Department of Software presented the following reports as part of the Summer School program:
– Development of a virtual model for a remote Smart House&IoT laboratory (student O. Bilov, associate professor A.V. Parkhomenko)
– Research of the Legrand hardware and software platform for implementing the Smart Home system (graduate student A. Tulenkov, associate professor A.V. Parkhomenko);
– Data collection from sensors as part of the course «Application of IoT technologies in engineering» (graduate student S. Leoshchenko, prof. S.O. Subbotin, associate professor A.O. Oliynyk);
– Interaction simulation for internal navigation systems (graduate student O. Petrova, prof. G.V. Tabunshchyk)
In addition, as part of the Spring School program, a training seminar was organized for project participants on May 19, 2019 at the «Motor» PCF (director Oleksandr Fisyuk), which is the official representative of Legrand and a well-known supplier of solutions for «smart» apartments, houses, hospitals and other facilities. The company’s specialists, in particular the head of the electrical engineering department M.S. Khrunov told the participants of the event about their experience in implementing building automation projects, as well as the advantages of the MY HOME home automation system from Legrand. Thanks to close cooperation with the company, as well as the funds of the ALIOT project, now students of the software department have the opportunity to study on their own real equipment – the MY HOME stand from Legrand.
In general, thanks to the funds of the ALIOT project, the department received new equipment worth about 300 thousand hryvnias. This will contribute to the improvement of the laboratory base and the increase in the level of training of specialists in the field of Internet of Things technologies.
