Attention students and graduate students! The start of accepting applications for participation in the second stage of the scholarship program «Polish Erasmus for Ukraine» for the 2014/2015 academic year has been announced

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announces the start of accepting applications for participation in the second stage of the scholarship program of the Government of the Republic of Poland «Polish Erasmus for Ukraine» for the 2015/2016 academic year.

The second stage involves the training of 400 students and 50 post-graduate students in Polish higher education institutions for two semesters. The language of instruction is Polish. If a student does not speak Polish, he/she is enrolled in language study centers at universities for one semester and begins direct studies from the next semester, after successful completion of language training. Enrollment in the Polish language course will be the basis for studying in the second semester. Proficiency in English is desirable, but not mandatory.

Study profiles provided by the program: management/public administration, European studies, economics, administration, technical sciences* (with the exception of medical fields, academies of arts and modern philology**)

*directions within technical disciplines: architecture and urban planning, automation and robotics, biocybernetics and biomedical engineering, biotechnology, mechanical engineering and machine operation, construction, electronics, electrical engineering, energy, geodesy and cartography, mining and engineering geology, computer science, chemical engineering, materials engineering, production engineering, environmental engineering, mechanics, metallurgy, chemical technology, telecommunications, transport, textile production.

** students who study in the specialty «Polon studies» will be allowed to submit applications.

The list of Polish universities that will accept students in the specified areas can be viewed on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Students and postgraduates selected by the Polish side will study at the expense of the state budget of the Republic of Poland and will receive a monthly stipend for 9 months. The amount of the monthly stipend for students is 900 zlotys, for graduate students – 1350 zlotys.

If studies start in February 2015, scholarships will be paid from February to June 2015 inclusive, and then from October 2015.

Universities guarantee a place in a dormitory. Payment for accommodation will be made by the student/postgraduate student from scholarship money.

In case of enrollment, students and postgraduates must purchase an accident insurance policy for the entire period of stay in the Republic of Poland

After completing the program, participants are required to return to Ukraine to complete the started cycle of study at their educational institution.

According to the conditions defined by the Polish side, applications can be submitted by candidates from all regions of Ukraine who:

• Do not have Polish citizenship;
• Do not have a permanent residence permit in Poland;
• Have confirmation of completion of the 2nd year of study at a Ukrainian university (for undergraduate studies in Poland) or the 4th year of study (for master’s studies in Poland);
• – Have an average score at the level of at least «good» («4» – according to the Polish grading system on a scale of 2-5, or at least 80 points on a scale of 1-100) from the last enrolled year of study at a Ukrainian university;
• For those who speak Polish, they have a certificate or other document confirming knowledge of the language at levels A1 – C1, in accordance with the recommendations of the Council of Europe (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment). If a person speaks Polish, but there is no document, the level of language proficiency will be determined during the qualification interview;
• Actively participate in the development of civil society (can give specific examples of their participation in certain projects, or have proof of public activity issued by relevant organizations);
• A list of scientific publications is mandatory for candidates for graduate studies. Other candidates can also supplement their application with information about conducting scientific activities, which can positively affect the success of the application;
• For post-graduate students – have a diploma of completion of studies in Ukraine, equivalent to a Polish diploma of completion of II-level studies (master’s degree), as well as, if available, a certificate from a Polish university on the readiness to accept a post-graduate student, with the specified academic supervisor in Poland.

Required package of documents for application:

• Filled in the candidate’s questionnaire in English;
• A copy of a foreign passport (or a copy of a document certifying citizenship);
• Photography;
• Confirmation of completion of the 2nd or 4th course (bachelor level), issued by the relevant university of Ukraine (academic certificate);
• If available – a certificate or other document confirming knowledge of the Polish language according to the system adopted by the Council of Europe (A1-C2);
• Medical certificate stating that there are no contraindications for studying;
• For candidates for post-graduate study – a diploma of graduation in Ukraine, equivalent to a Polish diploma of graduation of the II level (master’s degree), together with its notarized translation;
• For candidates for post-graduate study – confirmation of scientific activity issued by the educational institution of Ukraine where the post-graduate student studies, or by independent researchers working at this educational institution;
• For candidates for post-graduate studies – a confirmation issued by a Polish educational institution about the readiness to accept a post-graduate student, indicating the supervisor;

Participants will have the opportunity to explain their motivation for participating in the program, as well as present their research proposal (candidates for graduate studies) during the interview.

After enrollment, the student will need to purchase an insurance policy for the period of stay in Poland, which will cover the costs of treatment, or take out voluntary insurance by signing an agreement with the National Health Fund (in the second case, the information will be provided by the educational institution accepting the study).

The deadline for submitting applications is January 6, 2015*

By January 23, 2015, the MES will prepare a list of candidates recommended for participation in qualification interviews, which will be held in Kyiv together with representatives of the MES of Ukraine and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Poland.

January 27-30, 2015 – qualification interviews.

The Ministry of Education and Culture will inform the recommended candidates about the time and place of the interviews.
