«The day of separation – let’s hold hands!»
On January 22, the Day of the Unity of Ukraine was solemnly celebrated. The people of Zaporizhzhia traditionally celebrated it by connecting the two banks of their native city with a living chain along the DniproHES dam.
Several hundred people of different ages, including students of the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University, took part in the «Day of Friendship – Let’s Hold Hands» event. People left the Left and Right banks of the Dnieper at the same time, holding blue and yellow ribbons, and when they met, they headed together to the Metallurgy Park, where a festive flash mob took place: all regions symbolically united into a single country!
At the initiative of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, employees of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Library for Youth and the Youth Center were involved in the organization of such a large-scale action. Talented youth from the creative associations of our city were invited to perform.
We learned the impressions of the Ukrainian poet Olena Olshanska from the unity action: «It is wonderful that in such a period of the country’s life, young people understand and support the importance of such events. It is very symbolic – to join the two banks of the Dnieper with ribbons. To show the integrity of the country in this way. Or the same puzzles from regions. Separately – parts of a big picture, together – the whole country. Great idea and execution. In such moments, the strength of the Ukrainian spirit is felt».
So, thank you to all the participants of the campaign for their concern for folk traditions, because it supports and gives faith in the best!
