The day is the opposite
All students and pupils, at least once in their lives, would like to be in the place of a teacher. They say, now you are teaching me, but you will see, I can do it better than you. That is why, on April 1, on the International Day of Laughter, students of the Zaporizhzhia Humanitarian College of ZNTU became teachers for one academic day.
Such a coincidence happened unintentionally. The head of the college students’ trade union, Zhenya Voskanyan, says: «At first, the idea was humorous, to somehow entertain the students, but then it turned into a serious direction.» And then, on a simple working Tuesday, the incredible happened – the second year went to read pairs for the first, and the third year students became teachers for the second. However, only a teacher can give knowledge to the third year students themselves, because they – graduates.
It is interesting that despite the certain humor of the «opposite day», the student teachers took their task very seriously. They not only performed the nominal role of a teacher in the classroom, but also gave lectures, conducted seminars and even tests. That is, the educational process itself did not change, the only change was in the teaching staff. Student teacher Vika Tykhykh shared her impressions with us: «I even wanted to become a teacher. You could say that I made my school dream of becoming a teacher come true. It was a very interesting experience, and I would like to repeat it.»
The students perceived this role reversal very positively. Although the atmosphere in the classrooms was a bit relaxed, the boys and girls listened to the lectures of their senior comrades with pleasure. The teacher was also in the classroom, in order to help the «colleague» conduct classes if necessary. But it seemed to me that for the most part the teachers just sat in the classrooms and did their own thing, and their «replacement» did not need help. The new teachers were well-prepared, knew what and how to tell in order to interest the listener. It is important that there was no special preparation for the self-government day, the students were simply told the topic of the couple the day before, they repeated a little and presented the material.
«This is a very good idea. The day showed that we taught the students independence and decision-making skills. The college became even quieter, and the students became more disciplined», – reported the director of the ZGK ZNTU Prykhodko Yevgeniya Teodorivna.
In the end, I would like to say that such days give emotional relief to the student. Having been in the place of the teacher, they begin to treat them with more respect. In my opinion, the "day on the contrary" can teach a lot, and the ZGK students are well done for not being too lazy to organize such an event.
