The start has been given! Bicycle parking!
Tired of jostling in a crowded minibus every morning? Tired of waiting forever at the bus stop for a bus? Because of the «sedentary» lifestyle, you can’t stretch your legs anymore? Switch to a bicycle! It’s cheap, good for your health and just nice. Moreover, starting today, a bicycle parking lot has been installed especially for you near the fourth building of ZNTU.
The installation of the bicycle parking lot was made possible thanks to the joint work of students of the Zaporizhzhia «Mashinka» and the charitable foundation «Fund of Good Deeds», the public organization «Zaporozhsky Vector» and the philanthropist Boguslaev Oleksandr Vyacheslavovich.
«… it has been our dream for almost two years. Installing a bicycle parking lot – is the first step towards promoting sports, a healthy lifestyle and environmental protection among students. Our plans also include installing such parking lots near each Zaporizhzhia university, preferably more than one, or even holding a full-fledged bicycle day among students.», – Anna Gudkova, head of the student self-government of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of ZNTU.
Such a long-awaited event could not be ignored. Therefore, a solemn opening ceremony was held in honor of the opening of the parking lot. It was attended by representatives of organizations that took a direct part in bringing the idea to life. These are the first vice-rector of ZNTU Volodymyr Gennadiyovych Prushkivskyi, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Youth Council, the head of the student self-government of ZNTU Andriy Volodymyrovych Ivanchenko and the deputy chairman of the board of the public organization «Zaporozhskyi Vektor» Volodymyr Volodymyrovych Glazunov. The honored guests emphasized that ZNTU is the first university in Zaporizhzhia to respond to the proposal to install bicycle parking.

And in this case, ZNTU was the first to support our idea, to develop it. Now we see Europe right next to the fourth building of the university, because, as we know, in Europe every university has a bicycle parking lot and often more than one», – Volodymyr Glazunov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the public organization «Zaporozhsky Vector».
The grand opening of the parking lot could not take place without an entertainment program for those present. Although small, but surprisingly interesting program, did not leave anyone indifferent. Students and guests were entertained by our native team of the KVK «Zaporozhsky Vector – Machine – ZNTU» and the guys on bicycles – BMX freestyle. The host at the opening was the unchanged Dmytro Shendryk, who, by the way, turned 24 on this day, with which we sincerely congratulate him. At the end of the holiday, Mykola Volodymyrovych Chechel, vice-rector of the university for administrative and economic work, joined us on a bicycle, setting an example for both students and teachers of the «Mashinka» to change from stuffy minibuses to bicycles.
Of course, for students who live quite far from the university – Khortytskyi, Leninskyi districts, surrounding villages – a bicycle is a rather inconvenient mode of transport, especially in winter. Riding far is dangerous and quite difficult. But, despite this, perhaps the example of our esteemed vice-rector and the presence of a bicycle parking lot near the university will encourage all ZNTU students to switch to bicycles, at least once every six months. We express our gratitude to the public organization «Zaporozhskyi Vektor» and the charitable foundation «Fund of Good Deeds» for their support in implementing this youth initiative. We hope that the efforts were not in vain and the installation of a bicycle parking lot will be the first step in promoting a healthy lifestyle and sports among the youth of Zaporizhzhia.
