500 participants of the «Aviator 2017» contest are one step away from the final
On March 21, the fourth stage of the educational project «Aviator 2017» took place, which is held by the Boris Kolesnikov Charitable Foundation and is the largest among students of technical specialties.
The contestants have gone through three rounds and a test of knowledge in the theory and history of aviation, exact sciences, and technical English. This time, 500 students from 29 higher educational institutions and colleges of Ukraine were waiting for an improvisation stage prepared by the project jury members. The contestants were tasked with presenting themselves as the director of an aviation company and formulating the vision, mission, strategy, long-term and short-term goals of their enterprise.
«Now is the time for young, talented, effective managers. It was not enough for a student to get a technical specialty, it is important to have the makings of a manager – strong, self-confident, with excellent management skills. Such requirements are put forward by employers, and we set a similar task for the contestants. «Aviator» educates a new generation of managers with the mindset of owners who know how to make money, find investments, minimize costs, have an idea of the development of the aviation industry », – says Boris Kolesnikov, President of the Charitable Foundation.
Head of Emirates’ representative office in Ukraine and a member of the jury of the project «Aviator 2017» Yevhen Ivanov noted that such tasks are interesting for both students and experts. The contestants reveal their full potential, demonstrate managerial skills, creativity and unconventional thinking, offer original ideas that aviators later implement. «It will be interesting to get acquainted with the ideas of students’ projects and the steps of their implementation. I am sure that most of the participants will surprise industry specialists, and some will even find a job in our corporation,» – said Yevhen Ivanov.
250 students will advance to the next, final, stage. In April, they will defend their projects before a jury. At that time, the names of the hundred winners of the «Aviator» will be announced.
As a reminder, students of technical specialties from all over Ukraine are competing for a trip from the Boris Kolesnikov Foundation to the Le Bourget International Air Show in France, which will take place in June. The project organizers have prepared a rich program for the winners: they will spend two days at one of the world’s prestigious forums, they will also have a tour of Paris and a visit to Disneyland.
