On May 20, «Mashynka» met with people’s deputies
People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Science and Education and his colleague People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Family, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism Oleksandr Prysiazhnyuk, visited Zaporizhzhia National Technical University.
The meeting was held in a warm friendly atmosphere. Oleksandr Zubchevsky spoke about his work in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, answered numerous questions from students, and even managed to joke.
During his conversation with ZNTU students, Oleksandr Zubchevsky discussed draft laws related to higher education. At the moment, there are three such bills submitted for consideration in parliament.
In parallel with this, Oleksandr Prysyazhnyuk answered students’ questions, and he did not ignore either the youth policy in the region, or the lack of jobs for university graduates, or what worries students most of all – obtaining housing on a state loan. The answers were, although concise, but still clear and frank.
Oleksandr Prysyazhnyuk was frank in the conversation: «You can only count on your own strength, the state has long stopped supporting young people and even put you before the question of survival.» He emphasized that the state budget has allocated 80 million hryvnias for the affordable housing program, when 1 billion hryvnias is needed for the minimum subsistence of this program. That is, the program is provided for only eight percent.
The People’s Deputies of Ukraine took up the problematic issues of purchasing new furniture for student dormitories by state universities, promised to support the draft Law of Ukraine «On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine «On Trade Unions, Their Rights and Guarantees of Activity» (regarding strengthening the legal and socio-economic protection of students)» (No. 2015 of January 15, 2013), promised to help in arranging the park area near ZNTU dormitories No. 4 and No. 5, etc.
