On March 12, 2019, a presentation roundtable of the international project «Women’s Voices Count» was held at Zaporizhzhia National Technical University

The «Women’s Voices Count» Project in 2019 involves representatives from 8 regions of Ukraine: Transcarpathian, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

The project in Zaporizhzhia region is implemented by teachers and students of the Institute of Management and Law of ZNTU together with the NGO «Center for Reforms, Democracy and Law» and the NGO «Human Rights Foundation».

The main activities of the project are aimed at expanding the opportunities of internally displaced persons, integrating them into local communities through joint creative activities.

The speakers introduced the goal, objectives and areas of implementation of the Program for Restoring Peace and Dialogue for Internally Displaced Women in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The Chairman of the Board of the NGO «Human Rights Foundation» Yevhen Fomin spoke about the effectiveness of modern methods of public activism, in particular blogging and art therapy.

The invited guests of the round table (representatives of state authorities and local governments, judges, human rights activists, heads of public organizations) highlighted the features of implementing the strategy for the integration of internally displaced persons and the glaring problems of IDPs in the Zaporizhzhia region. After all, it is at the local level that issues of resettlement, humanitarian aid, employment, and document renewal are resolved.

Particular attention was paid to unregulated aspects of the legislation regarding internally displaced persons, problems of procedural consideration of IDP cases, integration into the life of the Zaporizhzhia community, the exercise of electoral rights, and problems of ensuring property rights.

The round table was concluded with a summary and informal communication of the participants over coffee.

The moderator of the round table – Ruslana Mykolaivna Maksakova (regional coordinator of the Human Rights Program for Restoring Peace and Dialogue for Internally Displaced Women «A Woman’s Voice Has Power 2019» in Zaporizhzhia region, expert of the NGO «Center for Reforms, Democracy and Law», Doctor of Law, Professor, Head of the Department of Constitutional, Administrative and Labor Law of the Faculty of Law of Zaporizhzhia National Technical University) invited all those who are interested in the problems of internally displaced persons and wish to participate in the implementation of the Project to cooperate.
