On April 11, 2014, an evening meeting of graduates of the specialty groups «Electrical Machines and Devices» was held, dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the first graduation of students who studied in English

The evening was opened by the head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Devices, Prof. P.D. Andrienko, who summed up the 15-year work of the teaching staff who teach in English, noted the successes of graduates in production, scientific activities, and continuing their studies at leading universities in Europe and the USA.

The present teachers, graduates, students and applicants were greeted in English by the rector of ZNTU, Prof. S.B. Belikov, who noted that our university was one of the first in Ukraine to introduce English-language education. The rector informed about the university’s program for developing a direction of study with in-depth study of a foreign language.

The Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering V.P. Metelsky emphasized the importance of developing the direction of study in English and reminded those present of the words of the director of VIT I.Yu. Meleshko: «We need specialists who speak a foreign language. I will not say otherwise – we do not need specialists who do not speak a foreign language»

In their speeches, the graduates noted the importance of knowing a foreign language in modern life. Senior lecturer of the Department of General Electrical Engineering, Ph.D. Olha Volkova (supervisor of the thesis, Assoc. Prof. Bliznyakov O.V.) spoke about her path to science, the prospects of studying in the master’s and postgraduate courses at ZNTU. Technical Director of LLC «Energoavtomatizatsiya» Serhiy Konogray (supervisor of the thesis, Assoc. Prof. Polyakov M.O.) spoke about the international activities of his company. Head of the Department of OJSC «Zaporizhtransformator» Oleksandr Agibalov (supervisor of the master’s thesis, Assoc. Prof. Polyakov M.O.) shared his impressions from a business trip to Saudi Arabia, where the developments of his department are being exploited.

Those present honored the memory of one of the initiators and organizers of English language training, Prof. O.M., with a minute of silence. Rasalsky and other teachers.

For their many years of contribution to the development of the direction of teaching in English, a number of university teachers were awarded honorary diplomas by the order of the rector.

There was also a greeting and concert of students, a career guidance conversation with applicants, informal communication of graduates with teachers.
