The beginning of the era of information technologies in Zaporizhia
The National University “Zaporizhia Polytechnic” became a pioneer in the training of IT specialists in the Zaporizhia region, having started this business back in 1991. The rapid development of computer technologies at the end of the 20th century led to the creation of new specialties:
– 1991 – “Software for automated systems”
– 1992 – “Computer systems and networks”
– 2000 – “Specialized computer systems”
Establishment of the faculty
In 2002, the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering was established, which in 2013 was renamed the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Technologies. It includes three departments:
1. Software
2. Computer Systems and Networks
3. Systems Analysis and Computational Mathematics
Expansion of Educational Programs
The faculty is rapidly developing, opening new specialties:
– 2004 – “Information Technologies of Design” and “Systems Analysis and Management”
– 2013 – “Software Engineering” and “Artificial Intelligence Systems”
Current Status
Today, the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology is:
– 1277 full-time and part-time students
– 11 modern computer classes and laboratories
– Constantly updated curricula
– Training of specialists for the IT industry, one of the most important in the world economy
