Rectors of the Odessa region stated that educators support the minister
The Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of the Odessa region states that the activities of the Minister of Education are aimed at the revival of education, the development of higher education and student self-government
This is stated in a statement distributed by the press service of the Ministry of Education, which, in particular, notes that «on February 29, rectors of higher educational institutions of the Odessa region appealed to the deputies of the regional council with a request to respond to the absurd demand of the Lviv regional council to immediately dismiss the Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sports Dmytro Tabachnyk from the post.»
«We resolutely refute the demand of the Lviv regional council as politically biased, based on absurd accusations, and does not reflect the position of the majority of educators in Ukraine and the absolute majority of scientific and pedagogical employees and students of higher education institutions of the Odessa region. This step of the Lviv Regional Council is another stage in the campaign of certain forces to discredit D.V. Tabachnyk and the Ministry as a whole. Therefore, we cannot stand aside,» the press service of the education department quotes the statement of the members of the Council of Rectors.
«The members of the Council of Rectors note that educators of the Odessa region support the activities of Minister D.V. Tabachnyk and the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine, aimed at the revival of national education in difficult economic conditions, the development of higher education and student self-government,» the message says.
Let us recall that on March 1, the rectors’ corps of higher education institutions of the Kharkiv region also stated that he considers the position of the Lviv Regional Council on the need to dismiss Minister Tabachnyk to be one that distorts the real situation in education.
«We are deeply outraged by this event and consider the position of the Lviv Regional Council to be biased, politically biased, and distorting the real situation in the educational sphere,» the members of the Council of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of the Kharkiv Region said in an appeal.
As previously reported, on February 28, deputies of the Lviv Regional Council supported the appeal of the faction of the «Front of Changes» political party to the President and Prime Minister of Ukraine demanding the resignation of Dmytro Tabachnyk, Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sports.
According to Yurii Pidlisny, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education and Science of the Lviv Regional Council, the initiatives of the Minister of Education Dmytro Tabachnyk have led to a deterioration in the situation in the educational sphere.
It should be noted that the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine also adopted an appeal to Viktor Yanukovych, in which it called The President should assess the activities of Dmytro Tabachnyk as Minister of Education and appoint an authoritative, decent, and professional person to head the ministry who would be able to minimize the losses caused to the industry over the past two years in the shortest possible time.
