Summer Media School of Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University
The Summer Media School of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University has completed its work!
During the week, students in grades 9–10 of Zaporizhia schools and colleges immersed themselves in the world of modern media together with teachers and graduates of the Journalism major.
The participants learned how to take their first steps in the media sphere, understood the formula for high-quality content, learned how to create text and video stories, look for creative ideas for social networks, work in the frame and with the audience.
During the classes, the students discovered modern stream as a tool of live journalism, combining spontaneity, emotion and direct dialogue with the audience. They also became convinced that radio today is an outdated format, but a modern media that actively uses the latest digital technologies. They learned how Internet news is born and what are the risks of consuming information from unverified sources, learned to recognize clickbait and manipulative headlines. They also tried themselves as journalists: they independently created their first news materials.
The students also explored their own creative resources, analyzed their activity in social networks and looked for inspiration for future projects.
The final meeting was attended by journalist, founder and editor-in-chief of the vision radio “Na dotyk” – Olga Vakalo. During her master class, they talked about overcoming the fear of the camera and public speaking, the secrets of telegenicity, and how to remain organic and confident in the frame. They analyzed the participants’ first attempts to work in the frame and received professional advice for further development.
At the end of the media school, participants from the educational project “Success-2026” joined the work. Together, they talked about the art of presenting oneself and one’s own ideas, the importance of confident communication, self-presentation, and the ability to interest the audience. After all, today these skills are an integral part of success both in the media and in any professional field.
We thank all participants for their curiosity, activity, and willingness to discover new opportunities for themselves. We look forward to seeing you again!
