Meetings of the Rescue Center team with psychology students

From October to December, informational meetings were held between psychology students and stakeholders of the Department of Psychology of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University – the team of the Center for Assistance to Survivors of the City of Zaporizhia.

Centers for Assistance to Survivors were created to respond to the challenges of war. They provide socio-psychological assistance to Ukrainians affected by the war. Internally displaced persons, people who left the combat zone or occupied territories, local residents, people who were captured and their families, as well as everyone who needs help in our difficult times can receive assistance from the Center.

The coordinator of the Center, a permanent partner and honorary graduate of the Department of Psychology, psychologist and psychotherapist Kateryna Rakytyanska, told the participants of the meetings about the activities of the Center in Ukraine, as well as in the front-line Zaporizhia.

She reported that the Center can be contacted with any questions that arise in connection with the war. Qualified specialists will provide the necessary socio-psychological, legal or informational support comprehensively and in one place.

Assistance at the Centers is provided: free of charge, confidentially, unconditionally (recipients of assistance at the Centers do not have to provide evidence that they have suffered from war or been subjected to violence in order to receive support).

The meetings were attended by all specialists of the Zaporizhia Center for Social Welfare – social workers-case managers, psychologists, a lawyer and an administrator, who spoke about the features of their activities, the range of services they provide, and answered students’ questions. Among them: consultations on orientation in a life situation (with subsequent social support); life skills training (budget planning, daily life, finding housing, self-service, assistance in writing a resume); assistance in obtaining additional services (medical, legal, psychological) by referring to appropriate services; legal advice on various issues; psychological consultations and trainings.
