Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic honors fallen defenders of Ukraine

On August 29, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Every day at 9:00 we honor the honor of the brave Ukrainians who laid down their lives to defend the Motherland with a minute of silence. Today, on the occasion of Remembrance Day, we remembered the names of 27 defenders, whose stories are forever preserved in the Book of Memory of Zaporizhia Polytechnic University. We remember and we are grateful for their heroism. Students laid flowers at the symbolic memorial site at the university as a sign of respect for the fallen.

Students, university staff, and administration representatives visited the exhibition at the Museum of the History of Technical Progress, organized as part of the All-Ukrainian Memorial Action “Sunflowers”.

The 8th All-Ukrainian Race “I Honor the Warriors, I Run for the Heroes of Ukraine” is taking place in Ukraine and abroad – an annual initiative to honor the memory of the Defenders who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine. The academic community of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University has joined the All-Ukrainian action. During the race, we honored the memory of each specific Hero or Heroine, a loved one or a stranger, as well as those students and graduates of the Polytechnic who gave their lives in the service of the Fatherland.

The day before, on August 28, the university community organized two commemorative events. We took part in an online reading of poems dedicated to the heroes-defenders of our country in the Russian-Ukrainian war. At a creative master class on making a sunflower from foamiran as an element of clothing, our students created special symbols of honoring our fallen soldiers. Sunflowers can be used in everyday and ceremonial images to remind ourselves and the world again and again of the great sacrifice of Ukrainian Heroes and Heroines.
