Polytechnic teachers took part in the "Model UN" game for Zaporozhye schoolchildren
On April 26–27, employees of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University participated in the Model UN game for students in grades 8–11, which took place at Zaporizhzhia Gymnasium No. 107. The event was organized by the Department of Education and Science and the Center for Scientific and Technical Creativity of Youth “Polit”.
The invited experts were teachers from leading higher education institutions in Zaporizhzhia, including experts from Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic. Our university was represented by Iryna Maksymenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Accounting and Finance, and Oleksiy Tymchuk, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal, Civil and International Law.
As guests of honor from the Polytechnic, the event invited Vice-Rector Valery Naumyk and Director of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic” Olena Nazarova.
During the game, students modeled the work of the UN General Assembly and its committees on social, humanitarian issues and culture, as well as on human rights. Schoolchildren tried themselves in the role of delegates from 14 countries of the world. During the modeling of the work of the UN, young people discussed important issues, including: the fight against poverty and social inequality, the protection of human rights during hostilities. The game was held in the session hall of the Zaporizhia City Council. Participants tried to reach a consensus through debate and compromise.
Model UN is not just a game, but a powerful training for those who will shape world politics in the future!
