Visit of the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Denys Kurbatov to the city of Zaporizhzhia
On May 21, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Denys Kurbatov arrived at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University as part of a working visit to the Zaporizhzhia region.
Rector Viktor Greshta presented the scientific achievements of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic, in particular scientific developments in the field of aircraft engine construction, mechanical engineering, materials science, metallurgy, electrical engineering, radio electronics, development of algorithms for automated decision-making, and introduced the modern material and technical base of the university.
The guests also visited the Avionics Center “AVIAGRADE — ZAPORIZHZHIA POLYTECHNIC”, the Children and Youth Scientific University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic” and the Educational Hub for Displaced Teachers on the basis of the National University “Zaporizhzhia polytechnic”.
As part of the working visit, a presentation of the main framework for the transformation of the scientific sphere and preliminary results of the state certification of higher education institutions was held, in which scientists from higher education institutions and scientific institutions of Ukraine participated. During the presentation, Denis Kurbatov focused on topics that are important for everyone:
— creation of centers of excellence that will operate on the basis of HEIs to develop innovations, strengthen scientific and technical potential and cooperation with the industry,
— implementation of projects on energy efficiency, development of the startup movement, etc.
NU “Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic” is actively working in these areas: a Science Park has been created, the National Contact Point of the Horizon Europe program in the field of research infrastructure is functioning, we are participating in the competition for the project “Energy Sustainability of Research Infrastructure”, we have joined the network of startup schools – incubators – accelerators.
On the occasion of Science Day, the Head of the Zaporizhzhia State Administration and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Professor of the Department of Marketing and Logistics Anastasia Zerkal, Dean of the Faculty of Information Security and Electronic Communications Natalia Furmanova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications Harry Moroz, Head of the Department of Software Serhiy Subbotin, Associate Professor of the Department of Software Andriy Oliynyk, Head of the Department of Transport Technologies Serhiy Turpak.
Denys Kurbatov also met with young scientists from higher education institutions in the region. Zaporizhia Polytechnic University was represented by young and promising scientists of the university: Anastasia Zerkal, Serhiy Leoshchenko, Maria Pavlenko, Serhiy Tanchenko, Larisa Tumarchenko, Maksym Avramenko, Vladislav Nikulin and Diana Artsybasheva. The participants of the meeting discussed support for frontline universities, attracting young people to participate in state-funded scientific projects, and what new motivation tools for young scientists the Ministry of Education and Science plans to introduce.
We would like to personally thank Deputy Minister Denis Kurbatov and his team for supporting the region, and the Head of the Zaporizhia Regional State Administration Ivan Fedorov for creating an effective platform for communication and forming a vision for reforming the higher education system in such an important aspect as scientific activity.
