Working visit of the rector of Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic University to Poland

On June 24–25, the rector of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University, Viktor Greshta, paid a working visit to Warsaw. The main purpose of the visit was to participate in the joint Ukrainian-Polish Rector’s Day, which became another step towards deepening cooperation between the countries in the field of education and science.

The first day of the visit began with a productive meeting of the delegation of the Union of Rectors with the leadership of the Warsaw Polytechnic. During the discussion, key areas of further cooperation between Ukraine and Poland were outlined: the use of experimental research equipment of Polish colleagues, as well as the creation of powerful scientific groups that will work on innovative solutions in the fields of new materials, automation, mechatronics and robotics. Particular attention was focused on the prospect of creating alliances for effective cooperation with the European Union for the joint implementation and obtaining external financing of Ukrainian-Polish projects.

The official part of the event was opened by the project leader, President of the Polish Rectors’ Foundation, Professor Jerzy Woznicki. The meeting was attended by highly qualified experts and representatives of universities, as well as the Ministries of Poland and Ukraine, who shared their vision of modern trends in the field of education and science. Rector Viktor Greshta joined the panel discussions together with fellow rectors: Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań Bohumila Kanevska, Rector of Warsaw School of Economics Piotr Vahovniak, President of the Yuriy Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic University Volodymyr Onyshchenko, Rector of the National University of Lviv Polytechnic Natalia Shakhovska, and Rector of the Kyiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture Oleksiy Dniprov.

During the presentation, the Rector of Zaporizhia Polytechnic focused on critically important issues of financing scientific activities, and also presented the university’s developments in the fields of aviation gas turbine technology, physics, wind power, radio engineering and radio electronics, nuclear thermal power, transport, and physical rehabilitation.

During the second day, Rector Viktor Greshta and his colleagues met with the Ambassador of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Poland. They discussed the importance of involving Ukrainian youth temporarily abroad in the educational process in Ukraine: organizing distance learning and opportunities for admission to Ukrainian higher education institutions.

They also visited the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies CEZAMAT of the Warsaw University of Technology — one of the largest investments in the field of research and development of semiconductor technologies in Poland. CEZAMAT opens up new opportunities for commercialization of developments thanks to advanced technical equipment: plasma etching, thermal processes, photo- and nanolithography, layer deposition, as well as optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy tools.

The visit emphasizes the great potential for joint projects in critical areas to promote the reconstruction and innovative development of our country, in particular within the framework of the Science Park of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University.

Such visits contribute to the development of a strategic partnership for the European future of Ukraine!

Working together – developing together!
