International support for Zaporizhia Polytechnic University: humanitarian aid from partners arrived at the university

On December 1, a large truck arrived at Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University with logistical assistance from our long-standing and reliable partners — Offenburg University of Applied Sciences and Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden (OTH Amberg-Weiden), as well as the non-profit humanitarian organization Space-Eye. This initiative was organized in response to our request for support after another attack that caused significant damage to the university infrastructure: https://zp.edu.ua/nu-zaporizka-politekhnika-postrazhdav-vnaslidok-rosijskoho-udaru/

Numerous German companies also joined the gathering, showing extraordinary generosity, humanity, and willingness to support our university in an extremely difficult time.

This initiative was made possible thanks to the personal contribution of the leaders of both universities – Rector, Professor Dr. Stephan Trahasch (Offenburg University of Applied Sciences) and President, Professor Dr. Clemens Bulitta (OTH Amberg-Weiden). It was they who initiated the large-scale meetings, contacted partner organizations and companies, coordinated the processes and took the situation under their own care. We express our special and sincere gratitude to them for their personal participation, concern and support of our academic community.

Within the framework of the joint work of universities, Space-Eye and donor companies, a significant amount of assistance was collected: computer and network equipment, furniture, household appliances, textiles, warm clothes, medical supplies, various equipment to ensure the operation of classrooms, laboratories and dormitories. In addition to collecting, processing, and logistics of the entire cargo, the Space-Eye organization also transferred important equipment to ensure the autonomy of the university – a powerful generator, which will significantly enhance the stability of the work of certain university departments in the event of possible power outages.

All the property received will become critically important support in restoring the damaged infrastructure of the university, and will also help provide proper conditions for those we accept and support: displaced persons, students and teachers of relocated educational institutions, schools that have temporarily settled on our territory.

We especially appreciate the humanity and solidarity shown by our international partners. At a time when Zaporizhia Polytechnic is experiencing the consequences of destruction from missile and drone attacks, such assistance is not just material support, it is proof that the global academic community is united in the values of humanity, freedom, mutual assistance and preservation of education even in the most difficult circumstances.

This initiative is a vivid confirmation: there is much more good in the world than evil, and it is thanks to such people and institutions that we have faith in the future, the strength to continue working and developing, educating and supporting everyone who needs it.

We also express our sincere gratitude to the staff and students of Zaporizhia Polytechnic, who actively helped in coordination, unloading cargo and organizing all accompanying work. Your solidarity, readiness to act and responsibility have become an important part of the successful completion of this humanitarian mission.

Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic is deeply grateful to Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, OTH Amberg-Weiden, the Space-Eye organization, all donor companies, university teams and everyone who joined this initiative. Your support is not just humanitarian aid. It is a manifestation of true friendship, solidarity and faith in the value of education and human life!
