The future is on a 3D printer!

On April 12, students in grades 8–11 took part in a 3D printing master class, which was organized by the NGO “Zaporizhzhia without Waste” in cooperation with the Children and Youth Scientific University of the National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic”, with the assistance of Zero Waste Alliance Ukraine and with the support of Zero Waste Europe and MAVA Foundation.

The meeting was opened by the director of the Youth Scientific University Olena Nazarova and representatives of the NGO Ivan Kalosha and Liza Ivanova, who spoke about eco-conscious approaches: technologies should not harm nature, on the contrary – help preserve it.

3D printing technology is perhaps the first to become a tool for eco-change: it helps reduce the amount of waste and support the approach “reuse-repair-recycling”.

And what practical tasks did the head of the “3D printing in mechanical engineering” group of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University, Dmytro Kozak, prepare for schoolchildren?
— they studied how 3D printers work
— they created their own 3D model in a special program
— they learned about the properties of different types of plastic
— they made 3D parts on their own

And in the end — a lively discussion:
— how to reduce the amount of plastic waste?
— conscious use of technologies
— environmental challenges associated with the use of plastic

A lot questions, can schoolchildren influence eco-processes today: even now the youngest citizens are ready to invest in the future, where innovations become eco-friendly!

Working together – developing together!
