Round table “Zaporizhzhia Makerspace. Spaces of action: the future we create”

On March 4, a round table “Zaporizhzhia Makerspace. Spaces of Action: The Future We Create” was held for World Engineering Day.

The round table was attended by representatives of the Departments of Education and Culture, educational institutions and extracurricular institutions of the city and region, Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, as well as business and the public sector.

During the meeting, engineering was discussed as an important component of the identity of Zaporizhzhia, the creation of makerspaces as open spaces for inventors and innovators, as well as the prospects for forming a network of such communities. Participants shared their own experiences, presented ideas and looked for opportunities for the development of the city’s engineering environment.

The Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University was represented at the event by Olena Nazarova, director of the Children’s and Youth University. She gave a presentation on “Development of Engineering Thinking Using Makerspaces”, in which she shared her experience working with students and the capabilities of makerspaces for developing practical engineering skills in young people.

The creation and development of a network of makerspaces is an important step in supporting modern STEM/STEAM education. Such spaces help young people develop engineering thinking, creativity and teamwork skills, forming a generation of active, responsible and talented people who will rebuild, protect and develop Ukrainian Zaporizhia.
