The round table is dedicated to the World Embroidery Day
On May 15, the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training organized a round table on scientific and cultural issues “Ukrainian embroidery: the code of the nation and the soul of the people in the symbolism and color of patterns.” The event is dedicated to the World Embroidery Day and the 125th anniversary of Zaporizhia Polytechnic University.
The round table program presented locations of scientific, cultural, and artistic direction. More than 40 participants discussed current scientific aspects related to embroidery: symbolism, history, techniques, traditions, and regional features, as well as the image of embroidery as a sacred element of national identity. The participants also talked about their first embroidery. And later, they presented their projects in various formats: video mosaic, poetic dedication, quiz, student interactives. The final stage of the round table was a video project competition.
The results of the competition were as follows:
1st place — student video project “Embroidery — a symbol of Ukraine, a reflection of the Ukrainian soul”.
2nd place — student projects: “My two colors, two colors, both on the canvas, both in my soul”, a video project of students from grades 7 and 10 of the Sich Collegium of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council and “Embroidery in verbal ornaments”, a joint video project of students of Lesya Ukrainka Gymnasium No. 2, “Osnova”, No. 40, No. 55.
Students of the following faculties took an active part in the preparation and holding of the event: construction, architecture and design; business technologies and economics; of the humanities and social sciences. The organizers were the head of the department of scientific work of students, teachers of various departments of the university, a methodologist of the scientific library, students and teachers of the Sich Collegium of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council, gymnasiums of the Zaporizhzhia City Council – “Osnova”, No. 2 named after Lesya Ukrainka, No. 40 and No. 55.
