Zaporizhia Polytechnic team won the II All-Ukrainian Hackathon

On May 16-18, 2025, the final of the II All-Ukrainian hackathon “Energy of the Future” was held at Lutsk National Technical University (Lutsk city). The hackathon is a startup competition that brought together youth, business, and educational institutions for energy innovations. Teams from leading technical higher education institutions in Ukraine participated.

The event is possible within the framework of the “Professional Qualifications” component of the project “Promoting Energy Efficiency and Implementation of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine”, which is implemented in Ukraine by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Government of Germany, with the support of the NGO “School of Energy Efficiency”.

The team from Zaporizhia Polytechnic University, “Green GigaWatt”, won, taking first place in the competition and becoming the absolute champion of the All-Ukrainian Hackathon. The team also became the best according to the results of voting by other student teams from universities in Ukraine.

The Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University was represented by two teams from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. “Green GigaWatt” (GGW/Green GigaWatt) from the Department of Electrical Machines and “Eco mesh” – the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations.

The “Eco mesh” team was represented by students of group E314m – Daniil Korogod, Oleksandr Panasyuk, Volodymyr Panasyuk – and Associate Professor Yevhen Potapenko.

The “Green GigaWatt” team included students Oleksiy Silyutin (E–253sp), Daniil Maltsev (E–211), Mykhailo Ilchenko (E–252sp) and Associate Professor Oleksiy Petryk. Under the guidance of senior lecturer Viktor Bondarenko, the team presented at the competition a modular system based on the Scandinavian ventilated facade “Marmoroc” (Ukrainian brand – “Scala”). It integrates solar panels and wind turbines with additional functionalities: facade landscaping, video surveillance, lighting, outdoor advertising, etc.

The technical consultants were Svitlana Lapkina, assistant professor of the Department of Electrical Machines, and Andriy Barbashov, head of the Scala Trading and Industrial Company LLC.
