On November 18, Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University held a forum “Skills of the Future 2025” in a mixed format. The event was part of the events dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the university and brought together representatives of educational institutions, experts, employers and education seekers.

The forum was dedicated to discussing trends in the development of competencies that will determine professional success in the coming years. The participants focused on key topics important for the educational community and the labor market of Ukraine.

During the opening of the forum, the following speakers delivered welcoming remarks:
– Viktor Greshta — Rector of Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University
– Yulia Hryshyna — Head of the Subcommittee on Higher Education of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovations
– Mykola Trofymenko — Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine
– Yuriy Balanyuk — Head of the National Qualifications Agency
– Nataliya Alyushyna — Head of the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service

The forum consisted of two parts: a plenary session and a discussion platform.

The plenary session of the forum brought together leading national experts who shared their vision of the transformation of the education system, qualifications and the development of skills necessary for professional success in the future.

Among the speakers of the plenary part:
– Natalia Alyushyna — Head of the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service
– Yuriy Balanyuk — Head of the National Agency for Qualifications
– Volodymyr Bakhrushyn — Head of the Academic Council of the National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic”, Coordinator of the Higher Education Sector of the National Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Member of the National Team of Experts on Higher Education Reform
– Ruslan Kulikovsky — Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and University Development Prospects

During the speeches, the speakers outlined key challenges of the labor market, current areas of competence development, the role of universities in the formation of professional qualifications and the importance of integrating international experience. The plenary part set the strategic tone for the entire forum, becoming a platform for professional dialogue and the formation of a common vision of the development of future skills in Ukraine.

The panel discussion became a space for open dialogue between representatives of the university, employers, vocational education and industry. The participants discussed how the updated system of professional qualifications can meet the modern challenges of the labor market and the needs of the society of the future.

– Iryna Kostenko — Deputy Director for Academic Work of Zaporizhzhia Technological Vocational College “Motor Builder”
– Ruslan Koshelyuk — Acting Director of Zaporizhzhia Electrotechnical Vocational College
– Andriy Liush — Deputy Director for Educational and Production Work of the Preparatory School “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic Center of Vocational and Technical Education”

The participants jointly outlined a vision of the future of the vocational education system, focusing on the need for flexible, adaptive and modern approaches to the formation of qualifications. The discussion touched on key issues: the role of the new law “On Vocational Education”, the readiness of educational institutions to assign professional qualifications, the expected competencies of the future, digitalization and the impact of artificial intelligence on the training of specialists, as well as the formation of partnerships between business and education. The panel discussion became an important part of the forum, as it allowed to unite different sectors — education, industry and state institutions — to develop common approaches to human capital development and create a national ecosystem of qualifications that meets the requirements of the new knowledge economy.
