The mission of the faculty is to train socially responsible, highly qualified and competitive specialists in the field of health, physical culture and sports in accordance with the needs of the labor market in the conditions of European integration through the use of innovative approaches to education. Physical culture and sports today are a determining factor in the social life of the world community, an important element of education, upbringing, health care, military affairs, vocational training, social sphere, politics, economics and art.

The year of foundation of the faculty is 2007.

Structure of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports Management

Department of Physical Culture and Sports Management

The department trains bachelors, masters in the educational program "Physical Education" specialty A7 "Physical Culture and Sports" and doctors of philosophy in the educational program "Methodology of Educational Research" specialty A1 "Educational Sciences". The year of foundation of the department is 2007.

Department of "Physical Culture, Olympic and Non-Olympic Sports"

The department trains bachelors in the educational program "Fitness and Recreation" and the educational program "Fitness and Coaching" of the specialty A7 "Physical Culture and Sports". The year of foundation of the department is 1932.

Department of "Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy"

The department trains bachelors, masters and doctors of philosophy in the educational program "Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy" specialty I7 "Therapy and Rehabilitation". The year of foundation of the department is 2007.

Department of "Special Education"

The department trains bachelors and masters in the educational program "Correctional Education. Speech Therapy" specialty A6 "Special Education". The year of foundation of the department is 2018.

History of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports Management (FUFCS)

 

The Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports Management was founded in 2007 as part of the Institute of Management and Law of ZNTU. The faculty includes four graduate departments (Physical Culture and Sports Management; Physical Culture, Olympic and Non-Olympic Sports; Special Education; Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy), as well as three training laboratories. The departments train specialists in the specialties 017 “Physical Culture and Sports”, 016 “Special Education” and 227 “Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy”.

 

Among the graduates of the faculty: 2 prize-winners of the World Universiade, 11 prize-winners of the World Championship, 27 champions and prize-winners of the European Championships, 6 honored coaches of Ukraine.

 

The faculty employs 37 full-time teachers, including: 4 doctors of sciences, professors, 19 candidates of sciences, associate professors, 2 masters of sports of international class, 8 masters of sports, 2 judges of international category.

 

The Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports Management fruitfully cooperates with: the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine, the National Pedagogical University named after M. P. Dragomanov, the Dnipro Medical Academy of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Ivan Ohienko Kamianets-Podilskyi National University, the Lviv State University of Physical Culture, the Dnipropetrovsk Academy of Physical Culture and Sports, the Kharkiv State Academy of Physical Culture, Polish institutions of higher education – the Poznan Academy of Physical Culture and Sports, the Gdansk Academy of Physical Education and Sports, the Jan Dlugosz University, the Higher School of Economics (Poland).

 

Within the framework of cooperation with these universities, faculty teachers undergo scientific internships and participate in conferences and other joint events.

 

An information and educational system has been created at the faculty, electronic textbook technologies and elements of distance learning have been developed and implemented.

 

Today, the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports Management is represented by three scientific schools in the following scientific specialties:

  • “Sports Medicine” (head — Prof. V. V. Klapchuk, 9 candidates of sciences have been trained);
  • “Theory and Methods of Vocational Education” (head — Doctor of Sciences V. M. Mazin, 3 candidates of sciences have been trained);
  • “Physical Culture, Physical Education of Different Population Groups” (head — Prof. G. M. Shamardina, V. M. Shamardin, 9 candidates of sciences have been trained).

 

The faculty has three student scientific societies in the main scientific areas of the departments, in which students of the 3rd–4th years and master’s degree participate. Every year, the best students of the faculty are participants and winners of the All-Ukrainian Olympiads in the specialties “Theory and Methods of Physical Education”, “Physical Rehabilitation”.

 

Currently, work is underway to open postgraduate studies at the faculty in the specialties 24.00.02 “Physical Culture, Physical Education of Different Population Groups” and 24.00.01 “Olympic and Professional Sports”.

 

In recent years, teachers and students of the faculty have participated in more than 90 scientific and practical conferences.

 

Students take an active part in the preparation and holding of all events of the faculty and the university: “Olympic Week”, “Knowledge Day”, “Massage Festival”, “Physical Culture and Sports Worker Day”, “Student Spring”, in the performances of the faculty’s KVK team, the faculty’s championship in swimming, athletics, sports games, etc.

 

The system of extracurricular educational work at the faculty provides for regular meetings with parents, individual conversations with students and other educational events.

 

Students and staff of the faculty take an active part in events promoting the development of physical culture and sports.
