The long-standing cooperation of the Department of Journalism with the Czech public organization AMO has reached a new level

The long-standing cooperation of the Department of Journalism of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University with the Czech public organization “Association for International Affairs” (AMO) reached a new level in 2025.

The current international initiative is aimed at demonstrating effective interaction of journalism departments with stakeholders and strengthening the connection between academic education and professional media practice.

It was the involvement of practitioners in educational and international projects that became one of the key principles of this cooperation, within the framework of which the Department of Journalism recommended Olga Vakalo, editor-in-chief of the vision radio “Na dotyk”, to participate in the project “Innovative Approaches to Academic and Journalistic Practice” and in the educational trip to the Czech Republic.

During their stay at the headquarters of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the participants learned about the principles of the international broadcaster’s work and discussed European policy and the Eastern Partnership with David Stulik, the Eastern Partnership Plenipotentiary Representative. Meetings were also held at the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic, the editorial office of EURACTIV.cz, and the STEM think tank, which allowed for a comprehensive view of how EU policies are formed, communicated, and analyzed.

Special attention was paid to the Czech media landscape: from the investigative journalism of the weekly Respekt and the public broadcaster Český rozhlas to the activities of the ProUkrainu editorial office, which works with the Ukrainian community in the Czech Republic. The final elements of the program were visits to Transparency International – Česká republika and the Seznam Zprávy media platform, which provided an insight into anti-corruption mechanisms and the impact of digital platforms on modern media.
