November 22 — Holodomor Memorial Day
Every year on the fourth Saturday of November, Ukraine commemorates the victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933, as well as the mass artificial famines of 1921–1923 and 1946–1947. In 2025, the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holodomors falls on November 22.
The famine terror that lasted in Ukraine took the lives of millions of our compatriots. According to various estimates, up to ten million people died from the artificial famine. Today, more than thirty countries in the world have recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
This year, for the fourth time, we are commemorating the victims of communist genocide in the context of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. The tragic events of today only emphasize how important it is to preserve historical memory. After all, those who commit crimes against humanity must be convicted, and the victims must be honored with dignity.
Our duty is to remember, commemorate, and tell the world the truth about the terrible crime committed against the Ukrainian people.
May the warmth of millions of candles warm the souls of those who died during the terrible years of famine.
Eternal and bright memory to all victims of the Holodomors — adults and children, innocent victims of the totalitarian regime.
